Well, this is my first post in this forum. I've been reading FSM magazine off and on over the years and have even had a few pics in a couple back issues of the magazine and when finished with this project, I hope to have a few pics of this scratchbuild Drydock with Enterprise in an upcoming issue. I've started on this drydock in May of 2007 just shortly after finishing my PL Enterprise. I'm a little more than half way done, I'd say and I'm estimating finishing both models by the end of the summer if all goes well. In the meantime, I invite all who are curious to take a look and see what I have built so far and Comments and/or suggestions are more than welcome. If you know of any rare BHS photos of the production model that show of the details of the drydock please let me know or drop a line, I'm looking forward to hear from you. I'll keep you updated as I continue progress. The link below will take you there. Hope you enjoy. See you soon! Thanx!

In this update, I've finished 2 of the curved tiers for the side light panels. Though I'd share the pics with you to see what you think. Check them out on the Drydock page of our site! Let me know what you think!

Thank you very Much!!!!
Sometimes when I work on a project this big for such a long time, I eventually need a little break. So I made a composite pic of the PL Enterprise pulling away from the Drydock. I'm not sure how to upload pics on this forum, yet, I'll just send you to my link. Check out Drydock Project, page 9 pic 4. This pic gives you an idea of what the final product will hopefully look like. I think it turned out pretty sharp. Hope you enjoy! -NemVia- http://www.NemVia.com

In my "SITE" update this week, I've posted some new pics of how I'm wiring and lighting the Curved-frame light panels on the Drydock Project page for those of you who would like to know how this is being done. It may not be the best way to do this, but HEY.... IT WORKS! And that's all that matters right now. As always, there will be more updates soon. Hope you enjoy and Thanks!

![Cool [8D]](/emoticons/icon_smile_cool.gif) Happy Friday Everone! In this Drydock Project update, I've finished the tensioning rods for all of the curved panel frames. I've reviewed TMP once again and noticed that there are very minor details to be added between the curved frames. The pics on page 10 show what I mean. I'm going to call these little squares that I've added junction boxes in which I can run additional wiring through in case I've left out some sort of lighting. I've also begun more detail work on the sides of the overhead modules. After recievening some very interesting pics of one of the Drydock Models that was used in one of the TV series, and auctioned off at Christie's, I was able to use those pics as a referent. At first I wasn't sure if this was going to look good, but when I took pics of it I thought it looked very good. I've left these pics a little larger so when you click on the "FULL VIEW" you can check out the details a little better. After I finish the detailing work, I'll be working on the Hangers on either sides of the modules. Hope you enjoy!!!!! Until the next update.... -NemVia- http://www.NemVia.com

In this weeks update of the Drydock, I've finished detailing both the fore and aft ends of the overhead modules and have primed them so I can apply it's final color. I've included a reference pic of the original filming model so you can see how the models compare. Next I'll be working on the visible interiors of the hanger bays on the modules then they will be connected to each other finally! Next, I'll start some of the wiring for the lighting effects. I'll have more pics of the finished paint job in the next update... so STAY TUNED! -NemVia- http://www.NemVia.com

Is this a licensed kit? Does Paramount know that you are doing this?

Uh, Joe, he's not making a kit, it's a one off, be sure to work that fiberglass in a well ventilated area in the future.

Hey, Mellvar, do you know any other tunes? NemVia is doing a brilliant job on a tough damn scratchbuild, and all you can do is ask about your obsession, licensing? Give it a break, dude. NemVia, that is looking most excellent! I'm dying to see it finished! Get a move on!
I lied to get the job. They lied about the job. I'd say we're even.

Thanks guys!!!! Just to clarify: this project IS only my personal "Scratchbuild" Model. Although making this into a kit intrigues me I have yet to make the final decision to make it into a kit as of right now. It is a very complex build and I'm "givin' her all she's got" to quote a certain engineer. But for now I'm concentrating on getting it built. I'm hoping to be done on or before August of this year. I will have some more updates by the end of this week, so keep checking this post and my website. And Thanks again for your kind support!

If you could finish it by the first of July, you could take it to WonderFest the weekend of 19 July and I bet you'd get at least a Merit Award. BTW, I think that would be a fairly popular kit if you were to make that as a master.

Well, that was my goal date... but I never said it couldn't be finished sooner.....
As your teacher Mr. Spock would say: I would like to think that there are always..... possibilities. So, ya never know!!!! Also.... master kit..... very possible as well. -NemVia-

I can't see the pictures well enough to be definitive, but I'd guess at least a Bronze at WF. Scratchbuilding is always looked upon very favorably. (Assuming a competent paint job, of course.) There are tons of Star Trek and Star Wars models every year, so anything you can do to make your's stand out from the crowd really helps. I don't think I've ever seen this sort of thing in the contest before. How big is it? Size definitely helps, as long as it's not too big.
