Figure looks great btw! Nice job, looking forward to another one of your awesome bases!

Thanks Chris I have a long ways to go on figures but I am not as intimiated by them and I like painting them so it's just putting in the time. Happy 4th to you and everyone BTW. From what I read and Andy told me these vehicles never got far from France but I am not ready to make a hedgerow berfore anyone suggest it!!! I have this great product byAusfwerks called Grundecking that looks just like 1/35 sacle leaves that I am going to mound and pile everywhere so I thought a submerged log would best convey an open clearing in a wooded area in the fall. The rock would accomlish it as well but I think the log would be more appropriate.

My vote would be for the rocks over the log unless the log is virtually buried. At the moment the scale size of the log would be the equivalent of a California redwood! ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_wink.gif) The rocks I think will be more supplementary to the vehicle while the log would be more of a distraction. I think you can still get the "fall" look you're after with the leaf litter to supplement the rocks. Just my ![My 2 cents [2c]](/emoticons/icon_smile_2cents.gif) .

Build Complete: #5 Trumpeter's German 38(H) Artillery Observation Vehicle WIP

Build Time: 38H Assembly Time: 12 Hours Painting and Weathering Time: 26 Hours Aggregate VehicleBuild Time: 38 Hours Figure Build: Figure Assembly & prep: 4 hours Figure painting: 11 Hours Aggregate Figure Build Time: 15 Hours Base: Prep & Planning: 4 Hours Base prep & Painting: 4 Hours Aggregate Base Build: 8 Hours Aggregate Project Build: 61 Hours I finished the base tonight and have lots of final pictures. Thanks again to everyone that has commented and provided input. I as always really appreciated the feeddback and commentary. My minds eye had a fall scene with lots of leaves and fallen branches and this is the best my present skillset could do to bring that image to life. You were right Mike and Bill the original log was flushable! LOL!! I didn't flush it but my baby boy did nibble on it a little bit. It looks like a Prehistoric beaver chewed on it! I used Aves Apoxie Sculpt for the groundwork which is an excellent product and I like it much better than Celluclay in my opinion and experience only of course. I used a couple roots my boy and I found at the park and Ausfwerks Grunddeckung for the leaves. Without further ado here is the end result of my minds eye!!

Wow, that is sheer awesomeness! I agree with Bodge, the figure is great, the tank is great, and the ground work is just outstanding!! Sweet work as usual, Jim.

Thanks Mate!!! Like I said in the beginning this my Ode to Bodge! Your 38H inspired me my friend. Thanks again for the figure painting pointers as well. My next project is going to be a posting over at the figure section of a at least one figure and a number of heads in order to continue to learn and improve.
