Dragon SU-100 Premium Finished * Update 8/02/09 *

Here's my out of the box 1/35 Dragon SU-100 build I just finished.  I'm looking forward to painting and weathering in Russian green.  My time between builds is long enough (6-8 months) I always seem to have to re-learn the whole painting & weathering stuff....here we go again.

Yup, the tracks are magic, but I have some Friuls laying around that I'll probably use.

This must be the premium kit. Looks much better than my standard older version. Look forward to your painting.

Oh yeah, it's the premium...I just added that to the title.  Guess I haven't been around long enough to realize there was an old non-premium version!

Re: Dragon SU-100 Premium WIP - Painting

Finally...I started painted this bad boy.

Started with an enamel base coat - a brownish grey.

Followed up with Vallejo Russian Green acrylic.

Next step I'm going to do is lighten up some of the Russian green and do some subtle highlights on the panels, etc to break up the mono chromatic paint scheme.

Re: Dragon SU-100 Premium WIP **Update 12/29/08: Painting**

Wow...what a productive 2 days.  Took my base coat green and lightened it with a little yellow and a smidge of white and highlighted all the panels and stuff.  Really adds some dimension and contrast to the model.  Here are the pics, but regretfully my lighting in the photo doesn't really show of how cool it looks.

Re: Dragon SU-100 Premium WIP * Update 1/19/09 *

So I'm mid-stream here, but I was so excited I finally got a photo tent and some photo lamps I had to give it a try.

Have done some dot method with oils to give some tonal variation.  Painted some on tank stuff, except the on tank tracks.   In the middle of some chipping with light green to be followed by darker color to tone down and 'show some metal'.  And the some general and pin washes.

Finished chipping and painting the accessories.  Next step washes and then weathering.
