Re: Norway WWII Group Build 2009

Jay, looking forward to see the condor!!!

I am myself done, but will not grab the badge until I post pictures, which are yet not taken.

About American planes, PLENTY!

P-51 Mustangs had a pretty decent dogfgiht history here. 4 Norwegians even flew the Mustang. Other than that, What about B-17's? Or a B-24?  There's plenty Wink [;)]

Huxy I picked up a hobbyboss FM-1 Wildcat, and it says they were in the Atlantic just wondering if that would be good?  It is a really nice looking kit

Wildcat? No.. I do not think so, sorry..

No wait!

It says Wildcat FM-2, but as that's just a minor difference, and that this GB isn't really all into the very most accurate, I'll say sure! Give it a go! Wink [;)]

I have heard alot of good words about the promodellers wash... Does this mean I have to try them?

Re: Norway WWII Group Build 2009

Hey there Huxy! Bondoman let me know of the great work and history happening here in this GB thread! Thumbs Up [tup] I am one of those poor lost souls over in the Fleet Air Arm GB and been going strong since they transitioned from US Navy subjects over to FAA and  Coastal command subjects on May 1st.

Reason he mentioned the Norway build to me is I am currently working on quite a pair of kits. The Special Hobby Blackburn Skua and Roc in 1/48 scale.  These are beasties of limited run kits and tough builds but the Skua is specifically listed as the Norwegian Campaign.  All three options included in this kit are of Aircraft from the HMS Ark Royal. All three options are of aircraft that were lost on July 13th 1940 during an attack on the Scharnhorst.

I haven't seen any of these built up yet and after working on my this last 2 weeks I can understand why. If it is ok with you I could show some in progress pics and hopefully some of the finished model soon.

Great reading and great builds going on here!

Re: Norway WWII Group Build 2009

Hey Huxy, Started on the FW190. the Tamiya kit is really well engineered. It has went together with very little effort and has been fun. I haven't built many WWII aircraft and even fewer Luftwaffe aircraft.

This is where the construction is at.

The build has been going really smooth. It's been going so fast that I fogot to get photo's of the pit. Oops. Anahu, Just letting you know I'm still in this thing. And hopefully will have more to post.

Jay, the FW 200 Condor is cool. I like the squiggle camo. Very nice.

The FW190 is in primer and have went over the seams a couple of times.

Re: Norway WWII Group Build 2009
Well some tough times for the Butcher Bird, I had her painted and the upper wing decals set, went to get a reference book, and BAMO! Dropped a book on her as she was setting on the tool box.A broken landing gear strut was the damage from the pilot error. Anyway drilled and added brass and reattached the strut and she looks to be none the worse. Still waiting on decals, but I'll try to get some photos up later.
