Round 2 (which owns Polar Lights, AMT and MPC now) actually has been very busy this year already
In addition to the aformentioned 350 Scale refit they've also released - Sci-Fi only here
1000 Scale TOS-E
1000 Scale Klingon D-7
1000 Scale NX-01
650 Scale TOS-E (The old AMT 18" kit)
1400 Scale 1701-E (Picards movie ship)
and
Robbie the Robot from Forbidden Planet
In the planning stages
1000 Scale Refit E (Dec 09 release)
350 Scale TOS-E (2010 release)
Original Spock display - yes with the snakes (Dec 09 release)
Interplanetary UFO Mystery Ship - ergo: The Leif Ericson (Nov 09 release)
Vulcan Shuttle from TMP (Dec 09 release)
C-57D from Forbidden Planet (Sep 09 release)
I hear they MAY, just MAY be doing the Nu-E in 1000 Scale or 2500 Scale - depending on the "official" size - if it's the 2300'+ then the 2500 Scale would be 11" long

That's just great! Now I'm going to have to build a bigger studio.

Looks like it could be an interesting model... But from my prospective, as an old geezer who watched Star Trek TOS when first run on tv in the 60's and loved it until now... The new movie really disappointed me. The magic is gone, and the fun is over...in my opinion. It was just a bad movie, from story concept to scripting to casting. The SFX were great, though. But I must admit:
"It's dead, Jim!"
Wow that new round 2 kit is going to be incridible but here's some other one's to see http://alfredsmind.ca/commissions/samples99.html

Boy, when you're wrong, you're REALLY WRONG. It's the most financially successful and critically acllaimed Star Trek move EVER MADE. Just because you can't let go of the past doesn't mean 'it's dead'.
cthulhu77 wrote:I never thought there was much "magic" to begin with. Overacting with bad scripting...yawn. The latest movie is just another spawnfest for the movie moguls. My wife, who can barely stand to watch sci-fi, liked it though. I thought it was passable. Not even close to touching the much more eloquent Babylon 5 series and films. As far as the kits go, I am all for more sci-fi...especially the re-issue of Spock. It will be hard to wait until later on this year for that one !
So why did you go watch it then champion? Seems like a waste of money when you had already made your mind up
I loved it, because it was fresh and not taken so seriously.. Enjoyed the new cast, and loved seeing what life "could" have been back in the day.I think it was a nice balance of new, but also a nice tribute to the old with the characters trying to keep the essential parts of the characters alive. McCoy being my favourite.
The only thing I didn't like about it was the old Spock, and the fact that yet another Star Trek franchise has to use time travel in its plot.. I simply do not like Nemoy enough to build a movie around him in order to keep the old boys happy, so they can have something familiar to hang on to. Other than that, I enjoyed it..
It is the year 2009, not the 1960's.. Shats is now Denny Crane, and his Kirk is old and tired. Plus you can only watch so many re-runs of a tired old tv show.. I hope to see more..
As for the JJPrise. I loved it. The design fits the future alot better than the old girl with no panel lines or rivets..
Don't know what movie you watched. But the one I saw had the Federation being attacked by an angry Romulan minor that travelled time to get back Spock?
The fact this guy just started blowing everything up would suggest that the Federation was on the defensive, and for that matter Vulcan was destroyed..
I didn't once see or hear anyone saying that the reason they joined Star Fleet was tosimply go and blow stuff up?
I agree with you about the plot. Not the best. But the movie was fun and I enjoyed the new actors potrail of the old characters. A fresh breath in my eyes..
As I said, I will always love Kirk, but for me, I recognize Shats as Denny Crane now moreso, and a character that I love..
Although Pine did a great job playing a Shatner like Kirk, he still made it his own, and with respect to Shats, did it well... As did the other cast members..
I am not a geek?. I would have thought you old guys that can't let go would be refered to as that..
I simply am a guy that loves Trek, but can only watch so many re-runs of the same thing...
No problemo..
Now that they have remasted the original series. It will be like watching something new all over again.. Don't watch them all too fast. Because then what?
