NMF-GB-F-86D Sabre Dog..finished

Hello again all. It's been a couple months since my last build. Usually don't build in the summer, due to lack of interest, and maintaining my property and bla, bla, bla. Anyway, we've been getting a fair amount of rain, so I forced myself to actually start a kit. Once I started, I couldn't stop. This is ProMods. F-86D-1/48 Sabre Dog, I built for the NMF group build (my 1st GB). I built it O-O-B, it was pretty much a "fall together" build, very simple, no issues. I completed it in 5 sessions, 20/25 hrs or so. Fot the finish, I chose MM metallizers. I masked off a few panels and sprayed with "stainless steel" buffable(but did not buff), removed the masks and sprayed over all with "steel", non-buff. The panels with the 'stainless' , actually end up being lighter than the others after being sprayed over. You can see the subtle differance in some of the pics. (just ahead of the flaps, the 'spine' panel, couple others). I finished her off with some pastel chalk and selective pin washes. comments, CRITIQUES, questions welcomed FERMIS

Fermis, That looks awesome to me!!! I've got this exact same kit in my stash and I'mpretty confident in saying right now that mine won't turn out as good as yours. I like your painting technique. That's one I haven't tried before but, when I build my Saber, I'll have to give that one a try. Again, GREAT looking build!!! Eric

I absolutely love it, Fermis. You've nailed the F-86D with this build. Top notch in these eyes.

OUTSTANDING job on this one! I built this same kit about 5 years ago, but, I can safely say that yours looks a LOT better than mine does. I didn't highlight the panel lines like you did, and seeing yours with that enhancement makes me wish that I had done so. I don't know if you know this, but this plane (1:1 scale!!) is on display at the USAF Museum in Dayton, Ohio. I built the kit before I knew this. I was visiting the museum with my now ex-wife a few years ago when I told her,"HEY!! I just built that plane!!". It was pretty cool to see a plane that I had built a model of.

Thanks much gentlemen, the kind words are a bit of an ego stoke !!! This kit was probably one of the most enjoyable kits I've done in a long time. It pretty much put itself together. I don't think I even muttered one curse at it.....AMAZING!!! Thanks again all FERMIS p.s. Devil Dawg, I did have a pic or two of this one, from Dayton. They were useless, poor lighting and even poor..er camera!

Terrific job! I really like the weathering. It looks like it has put some flight hours in. I also like the Tarmac. Did you do that yourself or get it somewhere?

Thanks again guys!. Leadsled- the tarmac is just printed cardboard. it came with the AMT/ERTL - A-10 with tractor and ground crew. I use that to go with all my pics.
