Hi everyone!  I'm having some difficulty in painting my 1/48 B-17G. I'm not sure if i'm painting it right. I painted one side of the left wing and when i was done i saw the coat was uneven. Some dark areas and some light areas. I primed her Gray and I am spraying MM Acryl Olive Drab which is thinned with 50/50 water/alcohol mix. The color comes out nice but i keep getting dark and light spots, it doesnt seem like its uneven. I've heard some people do "mist" coats and continue until it looks fine, others seem to do one coat and clean up. 

 I tried to apply it all in one coat but i got this uneven effect. Am i painting the model wrong? should i build the coats up? Thx for any help! i'm going to try again tonight and hopefully post the pictures.

Multiple thin coats is always better than one thick coat.

Always start spraying "before" the subject and spray past before stopping the paint flow. For something like a wing, spray along the direction of the airflow (ie. across the wing, from  front to back) rather than along it.

The unevenness may also be a result of the pigment settling in your airbrush jar/cup while you're working. I don't use MM acryls, but Tamiya's OD is made up of several pigments, a dense brown pigment which settles quite quickly and a less dense green which is finer and settles more slowly. If you are painting for an extended period of time, it may be worthwhile stopping and re-mixing the paint.

Some unevenness may not be a bad thing, especially if you are going to weather your model.

ya i've been trying to get my digi camera working but it's having problems. I dont know how to describe it...gonna take the camera to my friend see if i can get it working later. I'm pretty sure its not an airbrush flow problem because when i paint something it comes out fine and nice, not runny and adheres great. I believe its my problem of 1 coat and we are done sydrome. I'll  try to post some pics later
