I'll start out with the latest on my Secret Santa gift from a buddy on the LEM. Since I was decaling the Horten, (as shown in the Aircraft Forum) I decided to get the decals on my 1/72 scale Sdkfz 234 8-rad as well. Now all I have to do is fix the silvering, dullcoat and weather it and it'll finally be finished:
Now on to all the armor I started today. They are all Patton tanks. This first one is a 1/72 scale Revell of Germany M-48 A2C which is going to be in the postwar German Army before they upgraded them with new equipment. Since this is a re-issue of the old ESCI kit, (with additional sprues) I decided to modify the wheels a bit. Instead of having the two roadwheels per axle/torsion bar as is supposed to be ESCI took the lazy way and molded a super fat wheel/tire. So, in order to give the illusion that there are two roadwheels per axle/torsion bar, I took my file and filed a groove down the middle of all the wheels.
Stay tuned for more....
Looking good sofar. If I may say so but the 234 appears to be a little on the dark side but it could just be the lighting. I am looking forward to the M-48 and M-60's painted, especially the MERDC scheme. One thing about the ESCI kits in 72 that keeps me away from them are the Formula 1 style roadwheels and the simple tracks.
Joe
Thanks Joe. Good comments; I appreciate them.
Yeah, the 234 is a little dark due to the lighting and also a heavy dark wash that dried heavier than I expected. I'm going to try and tone it down with some light drybrushing when I weather it.
Yeah, the formula one wheels are a pain, but I think I got them looking prettuy good with the new grooves. There is a company listed on Tracks 'n' Troops that sells aftermarket roadwheels and detailed tracks just for these old ESCI Pattons. They look extremely good; very detailed! I just couldn't afford to get them at this time so I started building these now instead of waiting. The three M-60's are new tooling and NOT old ESCI, so they have nice detailed wheels and tracks the way they are supposed to look. I highly recommend picking them up. You'll see when I get to that stage of assembly.
Thanks again for the great comments.

At night Carlos! LOL! Eight hours minimum a night!
Joe, I agree. I love Revell of Germany models too. I wish they'd come out with more 1/72 scale armormoreoften. I love how they gave five different versions that can be done on the M-48, as well as three versions in the M-60's
Duke - I am going blind just looking at your post....at that size and the details you achieve...not only nice work, but you have been blessed with great eyes!!!
Rounds Complete!!
Thanks Mike! My eyes are actually quite bad, but only when viewing distances. To build, all I do is take off my glasses....
Thanks again for the great comments!
