Mikael That is some nice work on the copper wire and tiny photo etched pieces!

I tried to do a little weathering on my destoryer, touched up a couple spots, and  Just put a flat coat on and an=m letting it dry.

Photos to come tommorow most likely

Jason

Glad you like the added touch of the wiring. Lookin' forward to seeing pics of your ship.....when I get back from my short vacation.Wink [;)]

Hey everyone here is the Tamiya 700th Z class destoryer. This is my 1st ever and am quite pleased with the way it turned out. The rust on the sides came out way to heavy in spots but we'll chalk that up to a learning experince. I'm not going to try rigging it, to scared

as always let me know what you think.

I like the weathering, subtle but it pays off in the end. One suggestion, maybe the rust should have been streaked down the sides a bit more, but other then that your destroyer is lookin' mighty fine.Cool [8D]Thumbs Up [tup]

By the way, is your Kriegsmarine flag missing the swastika?

mg thanks I agree with the rust. It didn't come out quite like I was hoping for but thats ok.

Yes the flag is missing the swastika, the flag was just printed on fine paper, there where no decals for it.

If you have a steady hand maybe you could draw in the swastika yourself, just make sure you practice first.Wink [;)]

*OT: On my short vacation to Wisconsin(near Steven's Point) I learned their were quite a few military surplus stores. Luckily I had time to stop in one,(sadly I didn't have time to stop at another one nearby.Boohoo [BH]) Nevertheless, I did pick up some stuff......a German Pile Cap(less then $5.00Big Smile [:D]) and a US 2qt. Canteen w/sling(less then $10.00Wow!! [wow].) I would have bought some used Austrian jackets(used, as in worn by somebody in the Austrian military) but I was rushed and didn't have time to look. Their were also some sweet Czech gas masks, german pioneer shovels, and US Alice packs w/frames.......wish I bought those goodies too, but I'm happy with what I got.Cool [8D]*

Re: Norway WWII Group Build 2009
Sorry about not getting any build updates up lately or hangin' in the forums alot lately. Just started my first week of college and my schedule had completely changed. (The infamous Chicago traffic probably also has an effect, and the fact I'll be dealing with it for the next six years is a real depressing thing.Dead [xx(]) However once I get used to my new lifestyle schedule, I'm sure I'll be arounf a lot more. That said, I'll try to get an update up on the weekend.

Hey Huxy, I really, really hate to do this, but I will have to bail on this GB. Reason: I wanted to do something with my bust of Hartmann in a display with the 109. So unless Erich Hartmann ever ventured into Norway, I don't think I will be able to join. I might be able to winterize a German flak gun in a vingette, but it won't be as awesome. I'm really sorry!

Re: Norway WWII Group Build 2009

Here's an update on the Panzer........finally.Wink [;)]

I painted the ModelMaster Dark Gray coat over the entire build, so no more paint here and there in a weird patch work. The headlights are all on, the side signal lights were a bit tricky since I had to paint them silver, and then gray(all while protecting the clear lens part, since there all one piece.) But overall I think they came out pretty good.

The rear engine hull is put in place, but I did have one serious gap.(can you tell where it is?Question [?]) It's right where the rear hull plate meets the rear engine hull. So alot of putty had to be thrown in there to fix the very big gap(Tristars fault.Thumbs Down [tdn]) Now I just have to finish up washes in the rear, so I can throw on the jack box and finish up the back. Then it looks like work will move to the turret.

Thanks for looking!Smile [:)]

Thanks for the comments! But don't underestimate your skill, jay12472, it takes just a little bit of practice and patience to try new modeling techniques out. Then you'll be turning out contest-quality builds.Thumbs Up [tup]

Hmmmm.........sorta quiet around here. As for myself, the fenders are attached and the back is almost completely finished(scratch jackbox and all.) So I'll try to get an update up sometime later this week(right now I have to go draft some stuff for class.Wink [;)])

Re: Norway WWII Group Build 2009

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about this GB!  I was just concentrating on other GBs and now that I've completed the JS-2 for the RSOTR GB I can get started on the DML Pz. I.  Actually I started it months ago but had to shelf it.  Basically I cleaned up all the suspension parts and dryfitted them together.  I should be able to post some WIP pics this evening.

This weekend I'll update myself with everything that has gone on in the GB!

Re: Norway WWII Group Build 2009

Jason, Michael - I noticed your builds as I was scrolling down!  Nice looking work there guys!

Jason, your Z Class destroyer is a beaut!  One of these days I'll take a break from armor and try building a ship!

Michael, looks like you've got a big jump on me with your Pz I!  Looking real good so far!  Fortunately for me my Dragon kit doesn't have an interior so if (really BIG if) I work fast maybe I'll catch up to you!

This is what I've got on the bench.  Dragon's Pz. I Ausf. A:

and what I've accomplished so far.  The suspension is still not glued on yet.  Still debating how I want to handle the tracks - glued to the suspension (so it can be removed as an entire sub-assy for painting) or left separate. Hmmm......decisions, decisions...

This one is soo small compared to the KV-1 and JS-2 I completed recently!!
