Once I read about a GB for procrastinators, I straightaway thought of Rodin's sculpture of "The Thinker"

Well, I'm new to GB's and what better way to start somthing than put it off? Big Smile [:D] I made a small list of projects that I will "sign up" for. By the way, Calvin and Hobbes badges are the best! I like Weekend GB '08 the best! However, for this one, the badge with the cat is awesome!!! Since I'm new to this section, can somone give me a few "words of wisdom" concerning these? Or is it just straightforward? Time to hit the bench!!!

1/48th Hasegawa F4U-5N "Soccer War" Corsair (custom moterized!)

1/72nd Revell X-15

1/24th Revell Ferrari 612 (I can't spell it)

1/25th Revell "Black-top-warriors" (Confused [%-)]) killer bee (aka baja VW beetle) dio.

1/72nd Lindberg B-17

If I find anymore stuff laying around in my really messy closet, I'll add them here!

Graham,

Best advice I can give is try and plan what you will do ahead of time and just take it one sub assembly at a time. It seems to help me a little if I just take baby steps on a build. I personally love doing 'pits. It's after those are done and the fusalage assembled and wings attached that I seem to hit the wall. Even if it's just painting parts still on the sprue like attenas, machine guns, landing gear, etc At least you are getting something done and even if they sit like that for awhile, you won't be getting stymied by all those little parts that we all put off doing towards the end of a build(I have learned this the hard way...) I can go on and on but I think you get the point. Also, if I'm justnot "feeling it" that night, I find something else to do.

Regards,

Jeff

Re: No More Excuses GB

Wyoroy, put me down for a 1/100 Tamiya Messerschmitt ME 163B. Yeah, I know it's not armor, and I usually only build armor.....but it's been sitting in a box, only about 5% done for the past two and a half years. Now it's finally time to finish it, finally. Cool [8D] It will be the second aircraft build I ever attempted, the first one ended up in the spare parts bin. Hope this one turns out better.Wink [;)]

By the way thanks for startin' up this GB, it finally gives me a reason to finish this aircraft.

Here some procrastination for ya.....

I'll post a kit later.

Seriously though.....

I'm in. This will be a great chance to finally get off my can and finish some models

Revell 1:32nd F-14A Tomcat (this is some serious procrastination....the thing just needs to be painted and it's done!)

Hasegawa 1:32nd F-16C (building is complete, needs to puttied and sanded and painted)

Hasegawa 1:32nd A-4F (see above)

Revell 1:32nd Panavia Tornado (see above....what can I say....I really like the building part, not so much the painting part)

Hobbycraft 1:48th A-4C (this one is really bad.....been painted white for about a year and a half...just need to mask the bottom and paint grey and it's done)

OK, here's a photo of the Queen of Queens!  The oldest of the ladies on the shelf!

Tamiya Panzer IV Ausf H.  Its been sitting so long some parts have broken off as I moved it around while dusting.  In fact it sat at that same spot in the photo for at least a month before I moved back to the shelf this past weekend!

I WAS going to take some new photos, but I'll tackle that......later! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I like the idea of this group build, and since I have been away from my workbench for 16+ months due to real life getting in the way, anything that I have started fits into the rules. Count me in!! I'll have to get back in the workroom and figure out what all I have in the in progress pile. I know for sure though that I have the following: Hasa 1/48th MiG-25, RoG Me-110 (1/48), RoG B-737-800 (1/144?), and a Hasa F-18F (1/72).

This might just be the kick in the behind that I need to finish at least one of these kits.

FSM might have to start a "Support Group for all of us Procrastinators" Laugh [(-D]  Part of my problem was 21 moves in the last 18 yrs. At one time I had  storage units in 3 states. Disapprove [V] But it gets better my Wife reminds me of some boxes that has not been opened up since who knows - and this is one of the first things I unwrapped.

I kid you not I started building this car in 1987 or 88 .... This thing is Huge  - 1/12 scale I stopped right there and taped that box up , I do not feel I am ready for that Time Capsule... The good news is I getting real close to finishing  the Heinkel HE-l111 and P40 B after working on the both of them most of today..... Wink [;)]

Ernest, the Panzer looks great, take your time.  Whats a few days/weeks compared the the yearsWink [;)]

Sean, that auto has to be the oldest kit on the list?

So whats the story of these kits?  Was it paint, missing parts, life or bored with it?

Re: No More Excuses GB

Roy, please add me to the list.  Potential projects are:

1/25 scale Revell Firebird Funnycar-body painted but the decals cracked-needs repainted and the rest of the kit painted and assembled.

1/48 Eduard Albatross -not sure which version-started for the Knights of the Sky I-interior painted.

1/35 Tamiya Marder III M-hull assembled.

Not sure which one I'll tackle first.....I have to get some other projects out of the way before I can start this one.......Whistling [:-^]

btw-This is a great idea for a GB

Thanks

Most of my kits I should of finished up last Spring, but my Hobby Room had this Old (I mean really old) tounge and groove floor. I had lost enough parts down through the cracks to build a small Luftwaffe. I got fed up with the splinters, lost parts and Year round cold air blowing up through . I packed every thing up and remodeled. New floor with office carpet and fresh paint - after that new bench, bookcases and even recently vented the spraybooth out the wall.  Most of my kits are pretty close to being done - just minor painting , landing gear needing to be attached, decals - that kind of stuff.

Some of these came to a screeching halt as I needed a certain paint color to continue the way I wanted too. (local hobby store is 190 miles round~trip) Just the little thing that got them set aside.

The worse part has been tring to find sub assemblys I hid away that would not fit in the boxes they came in.

The old relic Huey was built with tube glue and brush painted, not bad but not great . But I want to finish it..    The Corvette - most likely will go to ebay as I never really liked vettes..Yuck [yuck]  Or maybe my son can finish it off ?

Re: No More Excuses GB

My story is close to yours and others.  Most of the unfinished kits I started back in 1996.  Because of moving from Wyoming to California, Wyoming, Florida and now back in Wyoming (for good).  Then there's the hobby room.  Right now it's an extra bedroom.  We have plans to finish the basement but that has been put on hold till next year.  The decal issue or I don't have the right paint to do it the way I want.  The best is, I start a new kit (which is exciting) and the old one gets pushed aside.

Re: No More Excuses GB

Renovations have been part of my excuse for unfinished kits but my real problem is that I'm addicted to GB's.  In the past I've overcommitted to Gb's that I had no realistic chance of finishing.  I would get a build partially finished, miss the deadline and then think oh well, on to the next GB. Blush [:I]

Is this where I say my name is Dave and I'm addicited to Styrene?

For those who had not seen this pic from another thread - This is part of the Unfinished I had lurking in the shadows of my work area.

And here is some of the progress on the P40B and the Heinkel -111 Propeller [8-]

Also on the P-40b , this was the first time in the last 30 yrs I have attempted to paint a figure

Sean, which He 111 kit are you using and when are you going to start working on the Bv 141? Propeller [8-]Propeller [8-]Propeller [8-]

The figure looks good other than it looks like the pilot has been starved half to death (a little on the thin side).  Could use a wash and a dry brushing though to give him a little life. Thumbs Up [tup]
