Re: Trumpeter E-10: new project

Thanks Doc and the Klingon, I think I will have to add the 25 to my stash and build it at some time just to have the set nearly complete (think there was a 50 around somewhere). I have to agree that this little beast looks rather ***p without the schurtzen.

Cheers,

Julian Smile [:)]

Re: Trumpeter E-10: new project

Hi Beltfed, this is the second armour model I am making a serious build of and generally I am following a tutorial Karl (the Doog) posted. In this case:

1. Basic three tone camo.

2. MIG filters (for desert yellow and dark green in this case).

3. The "dance of the oil dots" ( WinTon's oils: Napels yellow, dark blue, grey and white).

4. Chipping started of with scratches made with Vallejo "Iraqi sand" and dark metal made with Vallejo "burnt umber" and "dark rust" followed by another filter layer.

5. Tried wildBill's MIG pigment wash for the roadwheels (tracks were already sprayed using Vallejo "track primer".

I  will be adding more scratches and doing the "van *** brown sponge" trick to build up the layering of the wear and tear. You can find better info on weathering by doing a quick search here online, this is how I am slowly proceeding and learning a lot by doing it Smile [:)]

cheers,

Julian

Re: Trumpeter E-10: new project

Thank you Bill, I noticed you started a 251 build which I also will be following closely (great tip on the front wheel construction). This weathering thing has got my attention in a big way, it is so easy to go OTT with this, that is the difference with you "experten", you guys make it look so easy Confused [%-)]

 Very nice Julian.

I like the scratching and chips. I wish you had done the same scheme as the E100. I think they would have been more impressive together. In either case I like 'em both.

A bit of help. You need some "shiny" on the metal to metal contact areas of the tracks, sprockets and wheels.

Re: Trumpeter E-10: new project

Thanks Disastermaster, actually I painted the rims of the roadwheels and the teeth of the sprocket wheels with Humbrol metalcote which looked nice and shiney until I added the MIG pigments ( Arghh !......Banged Head [banghead] ). Will have to rethink this part of the weathering Confused [%-)]. Thanks for the pointer though,

cheers,
