Chuk, Thanks! Well summertime has finially arrived in Chicago, straight from cool and rainy to 100+ heat indexs! I'm not complaining though, been waiting for warm weather for months. I imagine many people are busy outdoors or on vacations. I however have managed to squeeze some time in on my HE-100. So here's the update. 1) I decided to make my first attempt at preshading panel lines. The first 2 pictures are the panel lines done with RLM66 Schwargrua. 2) The underside is painted RLM65 Hellblau lightened with about 25% flat white. I should have listened to my 15 year old's advise and forgone the last coat as it pretty well covered the presahed areas. Oh well live and learn. 3) The top side is done in a splinter camo of RLM70 Schwargrun and RLM71 Dunket Grun both lightened with about 25% flat white. I think I did a better job on the RLM71 as far as the preshading being more visible. The RLM 70 is so dark it completely covers the preshading. Hope to do a gloss coat, decals, a wash, and maybe final assembly this weekend. Thanks for looking. As always comments and suggestions welcome. PS - Attended my first IPMS local chapter meeting last night hosted at Minicraft Models. Very enjoyable. I also scored a 1/35 Dragon Smart Kit Jagdpanther for $5.00 worth of raffle tickets!

This looks like a great kit. Your work in the pit has really paid off. Great work on one of Germanys prettier looking 'Shouldhave beens'. ...Guy

On the pre-shading, when you paint over it with your camo base coat and top coat do you thin these two more than usual so that pre-shading shows through? I normally thin my acrylics 1:1 but is more thining suggested when painting over pre-shaded areas? Thanks for helping out a newbie!

Dobby, Just got back in town. Hope you had a good 4th. I work with enamels so I can't say for sure but I did thin the enamels more than usual and sprayed several very light coats. Hope this helps.

I'm calling the HE-100 finished!!! For those of you who did not see this post in the Prototype GB the end of this build revealed the shortcomings of this short run kit. The 3 piece canopy I planned to use so the cockpit could be viewed did not fit. So I ended up using the 1 piece which fit slightly better. Other than the wheels the rest of the landing gear parts were poorly molded and difficult to assemble. Then there was the stupid mistake of dipping the wing tip in super glue (I did a seperate post on this and see I'm not the only person afflicted with this condition. We should give it a name . Anyway I am very happy with the end result. Here's some pics.
Thanks for looking.

Frank, Thanks! The effort was worth the results. As always I appreciate compliments from accomplished builders such as yourself. Soulcrusher, Thanks for looking! Jmabx, Thanks. The atenna wire is invisible thread thread painted black. My wife picked it up for me at the fabric/sewing supply store. Phonetics, Thanks. New to the forum? Nicefit, Thanks for looking. How's the P-40B coming along?
