Re: P-39 Airacobra Group Build

Good to see that you got it and are back in the build. I'll be watching for those pics, can't wait to see them. I want to thank all for the honorary membership in the build. When I told my wife about the honorary membership with all rights and such she said " that's nice hon, don't forget to get the garbage out tonight." Wimmen, I guess just don't understand.

Glad I could help you Bud,

Ogrejohn

John pur wives must be related...mine says the same thing. They're probably just jealous that they aren't honorary members...

That's probably it, yet I don't think it would have been too much to expect a reply like " Tis good tidings indeed M'lord, trouble yourself not with the weekly refuse." Oh well, it was just a thought.

Re: P-39 Airacobra Group Build

Sorry for the lack of updates, but here Is where I'm at:

I'm somewhat disapointed with the PYNup decals...as you can see the nose art chipped in spots when it had a wrinkle, and I didn't know at the time that the decals didn't have there own carrier, so that presented an issue on the first decal since I didn't trim it down close and winded up screwing up the first set on the right hand side. On the plus side they are VERY thin....prob the thinnest decals I've ever seen. The chipping should be loads of fun to match up with :( Angry [:(!]

Looking good, Scott. I have a set of Pyn-Up decals that I haven't gotten around to using yet...thanks for the heads up about the carrier.

Re: P-39 Airacobra Group Build

Scott, very nice!  Coming along beautifully.

I finally started laying down some paint on my P-400.  Here's a few so far:

I thought I had the door in pretty well, but the pics show I needed to give it more work.  Oh well, too late now!  For the green, I laid down a coat of medium green, then tried to overlay a splotchy coat of dark green to achieve a faded effect.  I'm pleased with the results overall, though I should have done the same to the dark earth before masking.  Decided instead to mix a little white with the dark earth for a lighter tone, then carefully mottle it between the green areas with the airbrush.  Hopefully, I won't screw it up!

"Congratulations, gentlemen! You're everything we've come to expect from years of government training."

Great job on the airbrushing, Jeff. You worked the door much better than I could fanagle it. She'll look even better with the decals, too.
