You have part of the answer, 200 rpm is indeed the maximum rate of fire. There is more to it.

Ok how about this I found it on ask.com.... The M242 weapon system has both electrical and manual fire control and can be operated electrically or manually. In doing so, the gunner can choose from three rates of fire: (1) Single Shot Semi-Automatic, in which the gunner can shoot as fast as he or she can squeeze the trigger; (2) Low Rate Fully Automatic, in which the weapon fires 100 rounds a minute, plus or minus 25 rounds; and (3) High Rate Fully Automatic, in which the weapon fires 200 rounds a minute, plus or minus 25 rounds. So basically it has 3 different rates of fire. 1 round.... 100 rounds... or 200 rounds.... Did I get it? BTW is there a model available of the Coyote. I usually build WWII armor but she looks like a too COOL modern vehicle not to try.

Right on! The gunner and commander can select the rate of fire from Single shot, 100 rpm or 200 rpm with their joysticks. The gun also as 2 ammunition channel (primary and secondary). So you can have 2 types of ammo, and just change between them from a flick of the joystick. Ok. Guess I'm up. During WWII this units M-8 Greyhound "knocked out" a Panther Tank. Just before being crushed by the Panther. Name the unit? Bonus points describe how the m-8 knocked out the Panther.

Incidentally, incidents in which a tank (Tiger, Panther, T72) continues to fight after suffering a mobility kill are quite common. In WWII, American and British tankers considered an immolized tank "knocked out," and were sometimes surprised to find the turret moving as they approached it. During the Gulf War, there was at least one story of an Iraqi tank crew (T72 or T62, depending on who tells the story - I say probably a T62 or a T54/55 variant) taking an immobilizing hit, then traversing the turret around to the reverse in order to signal their surrender.
When I grow up I wanna be Lemmy.

It was an AP round, hit the hatch which was was not thick enough to detonate it, richcheted, hit a hard metal object and then detonated, killing everything inside the tank but otherwise not damaging it. David

Nope. Didn't hit the hatch. And you forgot to name the unit.

Ok. Guess I got you guys stumped. The unit was 3rd Armored Cav. Reg. The incident was a M-8 was out scouting and happened upon a Panther rumbling strait at them. Know that they could not beat a Panther the crew bailed out but not before the gunner fired 1 shot for honor, which happened to go right down the Panthe's barrel and explode inside the tank killing the crew. But the Panther still kept going a little ways and crushed the now empty M-8. A buddy of mine who is in our IPMS chapter and use to be a member of 3rd ACR built a Dio of this incident that he gave to the regiment musuem, but they gave it back to him because the regiment was moved to Fort Hood, TX from Fort Carson, CO. Next person to chime in gets to ask the next question then.

Very Intersting................ Ok, what US Armored Division had their commander killed, what was his name, and when did it happen.
