Stik and Bob - nice stuff, fellas! Big Smile [:D]

As for the Soviet/Afghan war...had to google it to get an accurate time period. Heh. So 79-89, basically? Are you thinking just armor, or an all-arounder again? Would love to bang out some modern Sov stuff...or find an excuse for that Hind...

Will keep my eyes peeled for this one. Thumbs Up [tup]

bobbaily- Sorry to hear about the job search, but I wish you the best of luck.(You're in the same boat as my dad.)

Glad you like the GB idea, I was going for something never done before and unique.Smile [:)]

lewbud- Thanks for checking in! I'm happy the Soviet-Afghan War GB has gotten your interest.

stikpusher- Sweet!Big Smile [:D] I hope to have you aboard when I start this GB.(start date=soon)

dupes- Hind......now that's some pure Soviet firepower.Tongue [:P] But anyways, this GB would consist of everything. That means Armor/Missile Launchers, Artillery/Anti-Air, and Aircraft/Helicopters. Started my research into getting vehicle lists a few months ago(the info was hard to find, but I think I have pretty much 99% accurate lists.Wink [;)])

Hmmmm...I'd like to see that list! Is the ZSU-23 on there? Not that the Afghans had much in the way of aircraft I would expect, but just kind of hoping. Wink [;)]Thumbs Up [tup]

Re: Lend-Lease GB (1/1/09-7/1/09)

I was just on a short vacation the past two days(this explains my absence from the forums for those who noticed.)

I took a vacation to Wisconsin(near Steven's Point) up to my relatives summer house on some 60 acres or so. The trip was pretty nice, but got oh so much better, when I learned their were quite a few military surplus stores up there.Big Smile [:D] Luckily I had time to stop in one,(sadly I didn't have time to stop at another one nearby.) Nevertheless, I did pick up some stuff......a German Pile Cap(less then $5.00Yeah!! [yeah]) and a US 2qt. Canteen w/sling(less then $10.00Wow!! [wow].) I would have bought some used Austrian jackets(used, as in worn by somebody in the Austrian military) but I was rushed and didn't have time to look. Their were also some sweet Czech gas masks, german pioneer shovels, and US Alice packs w/frames.......wish I bought those goodies too, but I'm happy with what I got.Cool [8D]

Nice score on the purchases.  Always fun to find neat things at a reasonable price.  And now you know to schedule more time on vacation in Wisconsin to check out the other surplus stores.

Definately! I just wish I was headed up there again this year, but chances are I won't be there untill next year. Thus that's sort-of a disapointment, because the surplus stores around here sell cheap chinese knock-off junk. Oh well, I got something to look forward to.Smile [:)]

Re: Lend-Lease GB (1/1/09-7/1/09)
Well, I finally got around to editing the first page with a message thanking you guys who particiapted and officially declaring this GB over. That doesn't mean(for those still building) you have to stop, continue building and posting pics of your progress. I'll of course still check in on this thread, but with a Soviet-Afghan War GB I hope to start soon, my priorties will soon be focused on that. Nevertheless, happy modeling!Smile [:)]

Re: Lend-Lease GB (1/1/09-7/1/09)

mg: Sorry I couldn't finish my Sherman on time, I was relatively close too. My summer was just very busy and I found very little time for building. I guess I didn't realize how much work you have to put into a 1/35 Dragon kit; this being my first one. I may finish by the end of the year and will post pics here if I do, but I am trying to focus on other GBs that I have a shot at completing on time as I am kind of swamped right now with GBs. I am glad to see so many great builds that came out of this GB though.

Good luck with the Soviet-Afghan War GB. I you make it run through most of next year, I may join later on; after I get out from under these GBs and get my next GB (I am thinking Sherman) going next year. I am trying to be very selective in my GBs for next year. I have always been interested in the Soviet-Afghan War and I have a 1/72 Trumpeter Tu-16 that I could build as being from that conflict. To my knowledge, the Russian's used the Tu-16 to carpet bomb the cave complexes of Afghanistan. Hope to see you get as good of a turn out for that GB as you did this one.

That's okay WarHammer25, lately I've barely had time to do any modeling work(I blame my architectural studiesWink [;)].) Anyways, remember your always welcome to continue posting pics here in the thread and I'd like to thank you for joining the GB.

As for the Tu-16, I would love to see that build and see you join my next GB with it. As for the time length, it will probably run a bit longer then this GB. (PS: Be on the lookout for feeler/interest threads I'll be starting very soon(maybe end of this week) and leave a shoutout, since these 'feeler' threads will see if their's enough interest in this GB to get it off the ground in the first place.)
