Thanks everyone for checking in, I'm going to go ahead and attach the bogies to the hull and then start on the interior. I'll keep posting my progress as I go along. For now I have yardwork that needs attending before it gets to hot. -Stephen![Cowboy [C):-)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_cowboy.gif)

Good morning, I was messing around with the tracks and noticed they were about a link to long. Any Ideas on how to remove a vinyl link and still be able to attach them when done. I'm thinking attaching the two ends with either super glue or epoxy. Will either of these work or will they melt the vinyl? Then there is always sewing the two ends but I've never been much of a seemstress. -Stephen![Cowboy [C):-)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_cowboy.gif)

Actually shouldn't have had that problem... But... That doesn't help.. So... You sew them together with a cross-hatch from one set of connecting pins to the next link's pins across the pad, or you can do it the way it's done on the real deal, by moving the idler wheel. You can shim the idler wheel mount out a bit farther by inserting some styrene shims and gluing them with a good CA.. Here's a crude sketch of the sewn track..

WBill and HVH, Thanks for the tips. Hans I appreciate the drawing. I don't think I'm up to the task of moving the idler wheel yet; but, if did go that route I think I would have to shim quite a ways to make up the slack for a full track link. On the real deal would they just take a link out of the track instead. I guess what I'm trying to get at is if I did move the wheel out that far would it affect the realism (read scale) of the tank's idler wheels? Not that I'm a rivet counter, I might be entering this into a contest in september so I ant to be as right as I can get it in my limited capacities. -Stephen![Cowboy [C):-)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_cowboy.gif)

Alright, more update pics. Here are the idlers, they look alright? Now for the interior. I've done some weathering, any ideas on good chipping colors for OD painted interiors. Here are the pics. As before any comments or critiques will be appreciated. -Stephen![Cowboy [C):-)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_cowboy.gif)

Looking good, good job on the breech and recoil sled. The diamond plate high spots could be drybrushed with steel with touches of rust on the ends of the plates. Then a burnt sienna & vandyke brown wash for some dirt effect. Rounds Complete!!

SMJ, I'm trying to recreate a vehicle from operation Husky(the Sicily campaign). Alot of these vehicles still had the two tone camo scheme from Tunisia and North Africa. HTH -Stephen![Cowboy [C):-)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_cowboy.gif)

Looking good Stephen. That ineterior is crying out to be weathered, which I'm sure you will be doing. Will it also be loaded with crew gear too? Sorry, can't remember if it was mentioned earlier. Rob

It is, but it's not very likely... During inclement weather, the fighting compartment would be tarped... Only the "Toadies" (Towed guncrews) didn't have sense enough to come in out of the rain.. Not much "weathering" in there... Paint wear & tear, some chipping/scuffing (like Redleg pointed out on the treadplate), some mud and dust in the corners, etc, but overall a gun crew keeps things pretty clean. I was a 14-karat "Ash & Trash Nazi" on my howitzer... "End of Mission" meant "clean this thing up"... I kept a broom and a mop on board. (Bucket was already there for the bore swab) Anyway, here's some detail shots of mine as a WIP featuring the breech and handles... The breech swing arms are strip styrene, the take-down pin on top is a piece of rod that was "mushroomed with a cigar, the breech handle from the kit. There's still one more item to add, that being the trigger that the lanyard hooks into... The flash has "washed out" the breech's firing lock, but it's just a small circle that I cut into the block with the end of piece of tubing, using it in a pin-vise like a hole-saw.

Scratchmod- Thanks for looking in. I would like to weather the interior some, still trying to get a feel for how much. Looks like HVH has some insight to it though. Planning a dio for this one so it will have some figgies about. HVH- Nice Priest, I thought i saw something awhile back about you building one. Yours is coming along nice. Did you scratch the tools or cast them yourself? -Stephen![Cowboy [C):-)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_cowboy.gif)

Was just wondering about the tools since the handles look like a different material from the kit plastic. -Stephen![Cowboy [C):-)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_cowboy.gif)

Wow, can't believe it's been this long since an update. Sorry guys. Well, I got the tracks done, ended up taking a link out on each side then epoxied them together. Here are some pics: Still working on the fighting compartment, not quite satisfied with the weathering. And I got a lot of work done on the upper hull. Here it is almost complete (Hull top is not attached yet) Let me know what you think. -Stephen![Cowboy [C):-)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_cowboy.gif)
