HAHA... I do that to my wife and my dog! They both think that I'm nuts! |
|
The wife thinks I'm nuts already, but I don't fly the planes around because my youngest boys might think it's a neat idea and try it when I'm not home...

I make strafing runs and rocket attacks on my kids, they love it and laugh they're butts off. Wife at me like I'm crazy also, but I dont care, I'm having fun with my boys and that's all that matters.

I guess modellers are entitled to some. I've had my dose of errors some so stupid I don't even want to think about it. I can say though that we come out better modellers learning from these mistakes.

Each and every one of my builds are stupid mistakes...

Well, for me the most common mistakes are forgetting to put in the nose weight and shaking paint bottles when the cap isn't screwed on. OH, and how can I forget cleaning my paint brush in a bottle of thinner and having some of the thinner fly out right on to my freshly painted wing? Or getting paint on my hands without knowing it and picking up my model. But the stupidest one, by far, is just simply dropping s*&t on my model.

I have NEVER completed a build without f$%^&*@ something up. I a build ever goes without mishap I think I'll quit, I've used all my luck.
Oh no you did what I told you to do, why? Lasci la pistola. Porti le cannoli.

More than once I have thrown out sprues not knowing that there are still parts that I need attached to it. But I blame my wife for that, she's always complaining that my space is cluttered. ![Whistling [:-^]](/emoticons/icon_smile_whistling.gif)

How about dipping the paint brush in the coffee mug instead of the jar of thinners .Doesn't hurt the model , but it certainly makes the coffee interesting .

Every once in a blue moon, the planets line up, the stars are resonating at the same frequency or whatever, and a build comes out great with a complete lack of errors. Very rare for me, I have tanked some great builds.' 'I was building a 1/72 Starfighter, just finished squirting on the base metal coat, it was looking beautiful, I mean the build was going so good, I got up to walk away, slipped, and my hand came crashing down right on top of the model, smashing it into a million pieces, and cutting my hand wide open in the process. c'est la vie

A couple years ago I knocked over a full, open bottle of Alclad Aluminum on the bench with enough momentum that it went everywhere. It was under the cutting matt, under a couple dozen bottles, under boxes, tools, paper. Everything. I cleaned up as much as I could, but in the end I had a bajillion styrene chips and sanding residue permanently glued to the bench. It did not hit any built kits, fortunately. The wife walked by and said, "Boy, when you paint you go all out.". Well, OK. Not really, but she did have something to say about the intense odor. Rick L.

I had scratch built the nose and tail for an A-12 Blackbird and had it all done except for the dull coat. First paint job suffered because my oldest son was cleaning up a lacquer thinner bottle we used for cleaning brushes. Although he was a good five feet away three drops of lacquer thinner splashed on the model requiring a new upper paint job abd decals. Second time I thought I was spraying on a dull coat and what I had grabbed was a flatting agent for paint. Needless to say by the time I figured that out the acrylic based stuff wouldn't wash off so a whole new paint job and more decals. Third time was a charm but seven years later when all kinds of A-12 and MD-21 data became available I realized that my A-12 with a GTD-21 drone was inaccurate.

Hi all I am fairly new to modeling only been a bit over a year or so that I have come back to the hobby. But it seems I get the DSA as soon as I open the box and start thinking about the build and what I want to do as far as detailing and painting. Of course there are the times I suffer from acute brain fade like forgetting to glue in landing gear legs before gluing the wings togeather or forgetting to glue in the gunsight BEFORE gluing the canopy on, orrrrrr......... well you get the picture. Sure is fun though

Sorry model geek My solution to making tupid msitakees at the end of the build. I, unlike you, wingnut et.al., make all the mistakes at the beginning of the build- then never finish. So the end of the build is no problem see how swimple it all iz ? ??where is the glue?? It was here a minuet ago..... ..SIGH
