Re: No More Excuses GB

Can I join?

I will be conservative with what I can finish in the time left!

So put me down for a 1/144 Revell KC-10 and a 1/72 Lindberg Kingfisher. Pictures in current condition to follow shortly.

ygmodeler: I guess I take the chance and welcome you aboard too since it appears you got overlooked. I want to see that Fitter done. BTW what color are you intending on using?

 Ray: Welcome aboard

Summit: Forgive me if I overstepped my responsibilities. But I thought the more, the merrier.

Thanks for being on the welcoming committee - I feel you are due for a promotion but in true to this GB Procrastination I will submit the paperwork to Roy when I get around to it Whistling [:-^]

ygmodeler - Bummer to hear about your shoulder. Glad to see you aboard and looking forward to your progress.

Harv -  Nice to see your work being posted again, when do we get to see them on the racks ? Give my Best to Bev Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks, I forgot what the name is, some Model Master Acryl paint, the base coat is already on it, I gotta add a bunch of smaller parts and paint stoage items, attach stoage items, finish up the crane, put decals on it, and then weather it...doesn't sound like much, but I'm starting up physical therapy so I won't have TOO much time on my hands, and i'm a slow worker :\

Re: No More Excuses GB

OK,  here is where I am at with my entries.

The Kingfisher is so close to completition, I just need to mask the canopies to get on with painting

The KC-10 is in a similar state though I have been having trouble with getting a base coat on it. Did you know that Tamiya spray pack paint does not like going over Revell paints, well I do now! I have also knocked the engines off their mounts a few times so the alignment is not the best anymore. I might try and fix them up again.

So off to the bench....

Re: No More Excuses GB

I'm soooo sloooow......

But, here's a wee bit of progress on the Merk, I think......

I had a road wheel on one side that I removed the rubber tire for a beat-up look, and didn't like it, so I changed it up, and added a little more dirt overall. I'm down to that darn ball-and-chain stuff, and no progress there.... and I need to do it before I add stowage in the turret basket and a fig. I may end up just passing on it, much as I hate to do that. Anyway, a pic or two, with a new (to us) camera. Woo hoo!

I think need to correct the area at the right front where the fender is missing. It should be "open", according to the pics I have.

Will work for Sherman parts......

Re: No More Excuses GB
Thanks, LeoMan. The color is a blend of MM SAC tan and green, from the rattle can. I use the green on the surfaces that will be less-faded, and the tan on the horozontal areas. I spray one color while the other is still wet, and they do blend a little where they "meet". It's the only way I've found to get an approximation of the later Israeli "sand-grey", since I don't use an airbrush. For earlier (pre-1883 or so) color, I use more of the tan, and more green for later units. This model also has a fairly heavy brown pin wash on it, and a very light brown "filter".

Nice looking Merk...so what's the deal with Israeli Green? Is it some shade that's particularly hard to replicate? Anyone know of something that looks right out of the bottle?

Re: No More Excuses GB
Israeli colors are "up for speculation", seems like. All the pics I have (except for museum vehicles) show the things with a heavy coating of dust, and the base color is difficult to determine as a result. Plus, the color itself has changed several times over the years. There are a few packaged Israeli "sand" amd "sand grey" paints on the market, and when thay're available in a rattle can, I'll probably try them, but until then, I got nuthin'. Big Smile [:D]

Hey, Wyoroy. Sorry about my disappearance. Computer went down, school finished in a mad rush, and I'm just getting back on the computer. Anyway, I've finished the B-17, will update you guys with pics in a little bit. As for my stuff, I think I won't be able to finsh most of them. Most of the kits need money to fix, and money I have not. I will definately try to finish the corsair, though.

Well the decals are on my T-34 and now I just need to do some weathering. I also got the declas on my Mirage 2000. I will have some pics to take tomorrow by the evening time.

Re: No More Excuses GB

Well, all I have left are the annoying little bits of pieces and touchup painting and the the gazillions of decals on my F-14, will update with pics hopefully later tonight. I haven't even touched the M113 like I hoped, I've been working on my F4F a lot lately for assembly and decided to focus on the F-14 for painting.

Re: No More Excuses GB

Alright, as promised here are some pics of the tomcat as it stands right now.

My favorite picture...the cockpit (because this is the best detail painting i've ever done...kinda sad, but whatev, im still young..ish)

Not the best I've done, but not the worst, I'm trying to get it done, but at the same time, I don't want anything bad to happen because I rushed it at the end. Comments are welcome.

Re: No More Excuses GB
Roy, how much longer will this GB run?  I have a KV-1 tank that I built 2 years ago that I realized isn't really complete.  I planned on getting back to it, but you know how that goes!  Its missing a few small parts, a couple of parts broke that I never fixed, and its about as clean as a brand new factory tank can get!!  It needs some dirt!  I'm about to weather a JS-2 for another GB and this would be a great time to finally complete another model.  Tonight I can post a photo of it in its current state.

YGModeler - that Tomcat looks great! I'd like to see slightly more in-focus pic of your pit if you can pull it off...seems to be top notch from this angle. Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

"No More Excuses"...what a fitting name. Seems like I'm about to come up with some more excuses as to why I can't finish some of these gosh-darn builds. Disapprove [V]
