Looking good guys keep it up. Sadly, I haven't done anything on the F-14 lately, been busy with work, physical therapy, and getting in shape. I'll try and get down to the bench to do SOMETHING, but right now I'm just motivated in other areas of life. Josiah

I've tried Polly Scale paint and love it for basecoats, but I have a real problem using it for detail painting like camo patterns. The tip dry is terrible! Do you have any tips? dirtball - wow! that's a big F-105!! The paint job is beautiful! Its going to look awesome when done! dupes - you've got unfinished builds?? What about your entries for the 1000 Roadwheels GB?? (like I should ask!!! ) |

Ernest, I often have problems with drying in the tip of my airbrush when using polly scale, although that did not happen this time. I suppose the main reason for that was because I over thinned the paint. When I do get clogging I keep a micro brush or pipe cleanere handy to dip in Testors universal acrylic thinner to clean it out real quick.

A shot of the P-47: Really really wanted to get the Academy decals to work - the checkerboard nose pattern was terribly cool. Unfortunately, as is the case with Academy decals, they didn't. So I resorted to using markings in a Super Scale set I had - which are for a razorback P-47. So accuracy is out the window, but she WILL GET FINISHED!!!

Dupes, nice build. Good luck with the decals, my friend Not really an update. Nothing done lately on the 105...but the F-86, well...I didn`t like it. Tore the whole thing apart to save the pit. Gonna start all over again and use another fuse WITH DETAIL, and not sand all of it off. I`ll post more soon...........Harv

Looks like we've had some action here in the last month! dupes - the P-47 is looking very nice! The T-Bolt is one of my alltime favorite U.S. fighters of wWII! dirtball - I checked out the F-105 in the A/C forum (gasp! how often do I go there??) and its looking like a beauty! I really do love the camo work you did on it! Hopefully I'll have time this year to finish one more shelf queen...just have to complete the Pz IV A first!

Wow Dupes, that's a sweet looking Thunderbolt! Okay, drumroll, I might actually have some progress pics soon! I was looking around for a job I could do on short notice and it loks like putting the paint on my Zvezda BTR-70 will be it! Not meaning to jinx it by talking about it, but here goes! Here she is, guys, Zvezda's (ex-Dragon) 1:35 BRT-70 sprayed into the closest equivalent to the grey base colour the Russians used in Afghanistan, British Dark Sea Grey (Tamiya XF-54), overall. ![]()
" border="0" /> Next up with be the green disruptive pattern, again in acrylics. With the heat down in Aus at the moment I have to extend the thinner ratio by 20% to try to offset drying speed, but even so it's a teensy bit rough. That's okay for armor. Another trick is spray early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the heat, or run the airconditioning and get the workshop cooled right down before painting. Note that the grenade pitcher mounted on the turret has been omitted. The parts were tiny and fragile (displaying their Dragon pedigree), had no location devices and broke when touched, so I'll leave them out. This vehicle hasn't been fitted with it yet! I've been holding off finishing this one for ages because I couldn't figure out what to do about the front vision flaps. I wanted to do them up but that would mean masking the windows, and as they were simply transparent plastic stuck to the back of the window component I couldn't think of a way to mask them that would not dislodge the clear sheet and have it fall into the interior. The answer is simple, spray the window area before assembly and rough-mask it -- so I'll do that on another BTR kit at some point and do this one with the armored flaps lowered. Of course, like any kit with openable parts, posing them closed reveals the fact they don't fit very well! Cheers, Mike/TB379

Hi Dupes -- as far as I know it's identical, though some extra details may have been added. On their issue of the T-72B Zvezda molded an alternate set of roadwheels, and I'm not sure if the ERA edition was a Dragon option or a Zvezda update. And I'm STILL searching for a set of vinyl tracks for that thing, as the L&Ls are blown in a kind of plastic that is brittle and so unfriendly to glue that I gave up on the first attempt... Cheers, Mike/TB379
