Re: Lend-Lease GB (1/1/09 to 7/1/09)

I  was wonder what the interior of the M10 Wolverine was painted? All the photos I have seen that show the interior to look dark. And what primer was used on US armor during this period?

Jeff

Re: Lend-Lease GB (1/1/09 to 7/1/09)

US WWII armor interiors were painted a white color. I do not know of any primer used. (May be at the factory only?) To my knowledge and from reading Belton Cooper's Death Traps, they just lathered on the OD paint.

I would like to join with a DML Sherman M4A4. 1/35th scale.  Trying to confirm it was part of the Lend-Lease, though I currently believe it was based on what I have found so far on the web.

Currently Building:
Tamiya 1/35 Panther Ausf. A

Guess what.... you're in! The M4A4 Sherman was a lend-lease vehicle. Just don't start building untill January 1st.

 Hello mg.mikael,

Currently building a lend lease GPA for the "Red Storm on the Reich" GB, but in staying with "Mobious's Amphibians" theme thought about building the GMC DUKW 353 in Soviet Service. The start date should work out great.

Hello mg.mikael,

I'll be planning on building the 1/35 scale Italeri kit no.6446. After reading the reviews of the re-release of the kit, looks like the skill level will match my abilities!

Anyway found a website that has a lot of info on the lend-lease to the Soviets during WWII.

I looked into to it, and found "the British turned over more than 100 Mosquitoes to the USAAF under Reverse Lend-Lease." So this was a lend-lease aircraft. Thanks letting me know about the de Havilland Mosquito's.Smile [:)]

If we're including reverse lend lease as well as the mossies the USAAF/USAF operated the Beaufighter, Tiger Moth, Oxford, Dragon rapide and Defiant as well as the aforementioned Spitfire.

Hope this helps.

Greg

I noticed that there was an omission of the Ventura, Boston, and Havoc bombers. The U.S. also flew recon Spitfires, and many nations flew Gloster Gladiators all thru the war. What about the C46, C47, and C54? B17 and B24's?

Sure, the C46, C47, B17, and B24's were all Lend-Lease aircraft so they'd all acceptable builds. The C54, I'm not exactly sure was part of the Lend-Lease Act. I looked into it and couldn't find any data on wether it was involved. If you or anyone else has proof that it was a lend-lease aircraft, I'll allow it.

I came up with this for the aircraft badge:

All opinions are welcome, if nobody has serious problems with it, then it will probably end up being the official badge.Smile [:)]

Re: Lend-Lease GB (1/1/09 to 7/1/09)

Hmmm. I'm thinking I'd like to join this depending on how well I do clearing out my current pile of GB's in the next few months. After a quick perusal of the stashola, looks like I'd be doing one of the following three kits:

Academy M3 Honey (British markings)
Academy M4A2 Sherman (Russian markings)
AFV Club Achilles Mk.IIc (British markings)

and possibly the ICM 1/48 Mustang Mk.III if I get particularly adventurous.

Will let you know what I'm doing when we get to the start date. Wink [;)]Thumbs Up [tup]

I'm guessing that people like this badge, but no one's left me an opinion or response on this badge. For those wondering it's P-51 Mustangs given to the British as part of the Lend-Lease and now in RAF colors.

I'll sign up for this one, as it's not starting for a couple of months...

Put me in for a 1/48 AMT P-40K Warhawk, most likely in Kittyhawk MkIII RAAF/RNZAF markings.
