Tony, I have a Revell Merlin in my stash, the one with the tiger stripes. I'm going to tackle it later on in the year, so I'll be watching yours with great interest.

I have read a couple of reviews of the Trumpeter Gannet kit and it looks to be very nice indeed. If you were to combine it with Pavla's resin interior set and perhaps CMR's wing fold set and you would have yourself a real show winner. I also found out the other day that Trumpeter is releasing a new Sea Fury FB. Mk.11 sometime this year, which is great because the Special Hobby Sea Fury kit I'm working on at the moment is a little on the rough side. Cheers

A new Sea Fury? Any idea which scale it will be in? If its in 1/48 I want one!![Tongue [:P]](/emoticons/icon_smile_tongue.gif) ![Tongue [:P]](/emoticons/icon_smile_tongue.gif) I have heard that the Hobbycraft kit is not the best, but for the minute its the best game in town, I'm sure a little TLC will do the trick. Good luck with it.

Well you are leaving out the skill to make it a show winner I wonder when the Aftermarket will start selling that, because I'll by a couple boxes of it. A Sea Fury would be great, I hope Trumpeter follows the path they did with the Gannett and Wyvern doing both 1/72 and 1/48.

Yeah, that would be great! I have read in the UK modelling press that there is rumour of a Gannet in 1/48. If that's right-I'll be first in line to buy one!![Tongue [:P]](/emoticons/icon_smile_tongue.gif)

Bob to convert a Wildcat into either a Martlet II or IV the best base model to use is the F4F-4, for the Martlet I & III models the best base is the F4F-3. The only difference between a Martlet I and a Martlet III was that Martlet I was the designation given to aircraft that were meant to go to the French and Martlet III was the designation given to aircraft that were supposed to go to the Greeks. Neither made it of course due to the German invasion of those countries and the aircraft were turned over to the Brits. As to what's needed for the conversions themselves, you an have inbound PM Cheers

Hello everyone, its the weekend and my F-14 is nearly finished! Looks like I'll have the bench well clear by April. In the meantime I'll be building a Spitfire and planning my FAA projects. Good news is that I had a delivery from Hannants this morning and it brought me my RN Phantom decals and my FAA Corsair decals. The Corsair sheet is by Techmod and it gives you a choice of three aircraft to build. I am to make up my mind about which one to choose......... Hope all of you have a good weekend

Darren, Are you gonna post pics of your F-14 when it's finished? My Spitfire is 99% done, hope to finish it up in an hour or two so I can post the pics of it tonight. I'll post 'em over in my WIP thread in Aircraft, but could I post a pic of it here, too? Even if it's not an FAA bird? BTW< whattcha gonna do with those other two Corsair markings on the sheet when you decide which one to build? ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif)

Hi Frank, if want to post pics of your Spitfire here, go ahead! I am a Spitfire fanatic so I'll be happy to see one here. ![Thumbs Up [tup]](/emoticons/icon_smile_thumbsup.gif) Thats one of the good things about this GB, only two rules, and rule two is to have fun! If any of you guys want to post pics of builds here, then do so. I like to see what other folks are building as does everyone else. As for my Tomcat, I sure will post pics when its done. Its a gift for a very good mate who has always wanted a F-14 in VF-84 markings. He mostly builds armor so we made a deal, I build him a nice Tomcat and he pays for the beer next time we meet up.![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_wink.gif) As for those Corsair decals.....you've got more front than a row of houses!!![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif) ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif) I'll let you know when I know....![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_wink.gif) Cheers!

You know what....... I am a total doofus. I've been reading the posts biding my time until the build starts, and have slowly come to the conclusion that I have no widea what "Fleet Air Arm" meant. I've been assuing that it was a generic term for any Naval Air Wing of any navy, and was planning on building one of the rare US Naval Corsairs assigned to carrier duty. Never occured to me that it was the proper term for the British Naval Air forces. I dont really have a kit that qualifies at the moment so I might have to drop my clueless self out if I cant figure out an alternate. Sorry for being a clueless Colonial.![Dunce [D)]](/emoticons/icon_smile_dunce.gif)

Hey, no worries mate! You are still very welcome here! If you still want to join in, please do so. You can easily modify a Corsair to FAA standard by clippping a tiny bit off each wing. After that all you need is some markings. If you want to build a USN bird, fair enough! We are a friendly bunch and I don't think anyone would really mind. I'll leave you to decide what you want to do. Hope you stick around.
