Re: P-39 Airacobra Group Build
I'm going to try and start early January. I'm in 3 GBs at the same time, so I may start all 3 together, or stagger the starts by a little bit each. But before too long into January, I'll have some paint and glue on a P-39 or -400!

Beautiful Marc, this is really going to be fun.  Smile [:)]  The web page looks very nice and I must admit, some of my favorite GBs are the ones where we're all building the same aircraft or tank.  The build goes a little deeper in terms of advice, questions etc, if that makes any sense.

Re: P-39 Airacobra Group Build

Very nice, Marc. It's neat to show my kids I have a build somewhere "on-line". They think that's neat, and it's one of the ways to inspire new young builders. We're building his 1/72 Mig-23s right now and I told him I'll post it on FSM forum when he's completed it.

Transcedning the ages, I'm equally as anxious to see my build with all of the others at your website.

And I agree with Scott...all the knowledge shared in this forum is invaulabe, not to mention a lot of fun!

Im going to make a trip up to Duxford sometime in January and try and grab some photos of The Fighter collections airworthy Aircobra. I will put them up on my website and people are welcome to use them. I already have some of the engine compartment but they are not online yet.

Re: P-39 Airacobra Group Build
If people paticualy need photos of a certain area i will do my best to photograph them. The coverings are back on the engine so i will not be able to get any of that but i already have a few and i will post a link when i get them online. I think interior shots will be a no no as it means getting onto the airframe. I will get what i can of the outside though.

Re: P-39 Airacobra Group Build

I should be able to start on the first, too.  I'm on the home stretch of a Tamiya Buffalo, which I hope to have off the bench by Jan 1.  I've ordered a copy of Details & Scale P-39 I was hoping would be here before the start date to help out with the little stuff, but guess it got caught in the Christmas mail rush. Still hoping it shows tomorrow.

Cheers!

Re: P-39 Airacobra Group Build

Here's a recent review on Modelling Madness for those building the racer version:

It's almost the 1st...I'm envious of our West Coast members...they get a 3 hour start on me!Boohoo [BH]

Quick question for the "planning stage": Does anyone make a Bell Cockpit Green in acrylic?

Actually, it's the other way around, you East coasters are 3 hours ahead of us.  You'll be able to start after midnight, and it will still only be 9pm here  Sad [:(] Wink [;)] Big Smile [:D]

Scott, even with my 2hr head start you will be able to close the gap because I think I will lucky if I get done by march.
