Finished at last!!! IDF M113 Experimental

Zero Enna 05-20-2007, 11:41 PM

This is my modified Academy M113 Zelda into an Experimental M113 with 60 mm. HVMS developed by IMI. This is what I've made: The turret, the hull top, the rear fuel tanks and some parts of the gun mantlet were made out of plastic sheet. The fuel filler caps were made out of plactic card too, sanded to shape, of course. Lots of details were made with stretched sprue of various diametres and plastic sheet. The side skirts are from a Tamiya M113, a pair of holes and also semicircular hole were made to them. All other stuff like side racks, fire extinguisher, gun mounts, guns and the jerry can are from the box, only the guns were a little modified, and the bar over the racks had four connecting points with the hull, so I made one more, the bar itself was replaced with copper wire. The flags were made out of aluminium foil. And finally the figures are a mix of pieces from the Academy Israeli Tank Crew set. The kit was painted using Model Master Israeli Armor Sand Grey and the figures were painted with acrylic paints. Hope you like it. Most regards.

I've never seen anything like this before.  Looks like you've put in lots of work and definitely done a good job!

I LOVE to see wierd, one-off prototypes and concept vehicles, especially when they're modelled as well as this one!  My helmet's off to you!   Make a Toast [#toast]Wow!! [wow]

Thank you for your replies... I'm currently super detailing a Russian T-62 (BTW with a lot of turret modifications) and an Iraqi T-72M1 (with a lot of turret modifications too!) and soon I'll begin with an Israeli T-55 Samovar and a Russian T-54 Model 1949, so I'll keep posting updates for you. Most regards.

Sweet!

Not only is that a quality model, but man, do you live in a museum or something?  I'm jealous!
