The American connection is ready they tell me. Heads up folks. Here is what they look like. 5 colour Day intermediate Dark pattern at left. And the 4 colour at right. I have added some texture to the four colour wings. More later. Remember there are two known variation of the 5 colour. There is the dark (seen here) and the very dark (as done by the Eagle Strike - OOP.)

Frank Please add two Fokker 1/48 D.VII, with a mixed parentage of Eduard, Jager & Roden parts to my build list. Note the left side of the 5 colour top wing has the original texture decal applied here.

Hello All, Stephen, The pair of DVII's look good already. Looking forward to progress pics on the texturing. Jeaton01, The drab colors are from the BW reference pics. Would have to agree they would have been a sight in the skies of Europe. Best Regards,

Greetings Scotty; You are talking about rib tapes. The wood frame of the wing ribs had cotton strips nailed and tacked inplace on the wing rib caps. The fabric covering was applied nailed & sewn in place by hand. The wing was then doped. Then rib tapes were laid over the rib caps and doped themselves to seal them.Tapes were located over the wing ribs and all edges of the fabric covering attached to the wing skeleton. Light blue was used by OAW (Schneidemühl) and Salmon pink and possibly Violet was used by Albatros (Johannistahl) lozenge fabric tapes were used by all three manufacturers of the Fokker D.VII. If the fabric was damaged this attempted to keep the damage from crossing over into other areas between adjacent wings. All aircraft with fabric coverings used them or another form of rib cap was battens.

Hello Daywalker, Would it be possible to add the Eduard 1/48 Nieuport Ni16 "WeekEnd Edition" to my project builds? Have had to ground the Fokker DVII project for awhile. Best Regards, Mo

Here is the 4 colour with a bit of texturing.
Below, I had a faux paux to fix. So two patches were laid down before the rib tapes.

Hello, Thanks daywalker, Just post a few of the Nieuport. Not sure how to get the laminated look of the prop. Really like the Eduard kit. No problems with the fit. Still learning how to build the aircraft kits in sequences. It's alot different than armor. Stephen, That is fantastic work. Will be following your build closely. The texturing looks amazing. Hopefully will be able to get results half as good as yours. Best Regards,

Hello all, Daywalker, This was a "weekend edition" just to see if I could build it on the weekend. There were no PE pieces or mask. Used sillyputty for the mask. Something that I've been wanting to try on a T-34, but thought it would at least get me in ballpark with this build. It worked really well, may not be 100% accurate but hopefully landed one in center field. I was surprised at the ease of use. Be keeping the little red egg in the tool box for the T-34 . Don't think I would try it with enamels or with any "Hot" laquers, be afraid of melting it into sillygoop. Something I wanted to try on the Sd.Kfz 7 but decided to try in on the Fokker DVII. First made a master to make sure the set would be bent uniformly. Double checked the fit of all the parts. Then taped 2 .020" brass rods together and made the bends. Surprised myself when it actually worked. The port(left I think) side was soldered together. Both sides soldered up. Checked the fit of both "Half Cages" against the fit of the fuselage. It all fits. Haven't shaved the kit detail off yet, should be a little manuevering room. Ordered the Eduard PE set. Best Regards, Mo

Here is the result of the all-lozenge applications for the American connection four colour. These images are to feature the lozenge without any of the normal BLV type stencils or national markings. As of now it is sitting on the shelf waiting for the cross & stencil decals to dry. I'll post an image or two later today and Frank can tick one more off. A week from now the 5 colour application will debut. (Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise).
