Raised Rivets - remove them?
I've got what might be a silly question concerning raised rivets.

Most model kits are made with recessed panel lines, but I've got a Revell 1/72 B-26 Marauder kit that has both raised and recessed detail.

With the raised detail, I was planning on scribing along the raised lines and then carefully sanding the raised lines off.  However, the problem I'm encountering is that the kit has a lot of excess flash that has to be taken off.

All of this wraps up into one problem: while I'm sanding, should I also remove the raised rivets?

Thanks.

Re: Raised Rivets - remove them?

The Revell (ex-Monogram) 1/72 B-26 is pretty crude and inaccurate, so from the scale accuracy point of view, it really doesn't matter that much one way or the other. Generally, though, B-26s were nice and smooth, so rivets should be sanded down.

If you want a decent 1/72 B-26, go for the Airfix one. The Hasegawa kit is better in some respects, but it's twice the price and nowhere near twice as good.

Cheers,

Chris.

Chris,

Thanks for the response and you're right: the kit isn't what I thought it would be....it's just a 'stepping stone' on my way back into modelling.
