How do I add a patch to my posts?
Posted by modelcrazy on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 9:35 PM
I just finished a GB. Now how do I get the patch to show up on my posts? Steve

On the right hand side of this webpage you will find your forum name, under that you will find Community Settings. Click on Community Setting, and this will bring up another page, scroll down to Signature and add all that you need. You may need to size your badge, but play around with it and see.

Hope this helps!

I filled out my signature line, but I can't get a picture to it. I seem to be missing the tool bar at the top.

You should have the same set up that you do when you go to use rich formatting. Also, you can only have 512 characters in your sig.

Ok I've got the one patch down loaded from photobucket the same way I load my pics. How do I make it smaller and make it slideshow?

You can edit the image in photobucket. I do all mine on my own photo editor which came with my camera, I shrink all mine to 160pixels. If you want the badge that flicks throught different images, you need a GIF animator. I used to use this one.

I just created a gif online at:   http://makeagif.com/

Added the pictures I wanted, then created the gif. Worked great!

Thank you Bish and hogfanfs,

I will give this a try. I think I was successful in shrinking the image.

I'm better at models than computers.

You and me both Steve. It took me ages to figure out all this stuff, let alone making GB badges and the like. But once figured out, its well worth it.

I'm getting started early with the Boeing Build patch. Hopefully I can get it right before June, if not I may have to enlist some help.

There's plenty of people can help out. But it doesn't need to be to complicated. Just the image with the words added will often suffice. The one you have in your sig now was a pretty simple one. I use panit.net for doing mine.

Bish, were you involved in the Russian aircraft GB that was started by "he who shall not be named" (well, it rhymed with fanny)?   It's the one and only GB in which I have participated.   Did you, by chance, design a badge for that GB, and if so, how would I get one now?   Thanks!

Gary

Gary, no, afraid not. I don't even remember that one. have you been able to locate the build thread, just wondered if the original is there, though unlikely. I will keep an eye out in case I spot in in someone's sig.

I like this picture, Steve.

You could have a couple different badges. I've seen this in some other GB's.  Then the participants can choose there own badge. Just a thought.

Ye, Bruce has a good point. Its not uncommon to have a choice of badges. You could use that one for people doing civilian builds and one with a selection of military aircraft for those doing military builds.

That sounds good. I really like the airline pic, but I bet I can find something with some military AC. The airline folks may not want a military patch and the military folks, the civil.

If you look at the WW1 GB he has 5 badges options, for armour, aircraft, and ships. But 2 or 3 is the norm.

Thanks Bish!  I just scrolled through 36 pages of my posts and that GB is gone.  No sign of it anywhere.  I guess it was ditched when the OP was canned.  Oh well...Smile

I've been looking for military AC, but haven't had much luck. I'll keep looking, and if I find something, I'll send it your way.
