i don't think that it's a possibility. i know what you are talking about. similar to option on emial to "mark as read" but on a forum i can't see that as being an option. to make a long story short it has to do with downloaded info that your pc caches when the page loads.

Marking postings as read
Posted by DavidM on Sunday, December 14, 2008 12:20 AM

Hi all

When browsing any particular topic on the forum, the unread/unviewed postings are in red whilst the rest are in grey. My method of viewing the newsgroups is to look for the red articles, which would be new to me, as on the previous visitation I would painstakingly open every article , read it if it is was a topic that interested me or close it straight away. This I do during every session. For groups that doesn't have much traffic this isn't a problem for for others it can be a major pain.

My question is, is there a way of marking an article as read without opening said article, just by clicking or keystroking the title??

Sorry if I am a little vague

David
