This granfaloon contains at least two Vonnegut fans!

The real question is the wampeter waxing or waning? Smile

That's what that count is, something that really does nothing.

I'm sure you have hit the nail on the head... sorta like the 'Most Active Users' box.... your shop teacher would be proud! Geeked

Boyd, that's how many unread conversations are in your "inbox"!

Bill

That is what I first thought, but it doesn't add up.  For example, why would the count go down by one when I add a new conversation.

Also, I've gone through my entire list of 'Conversations' and checked to make sure they are all read, yet the number remains...

That count could also be called a "wampeter"...

What, no Vonnegut fans out there?

OK, back in woodshop, we used to make a little piece consisting of a block of wood with two channels routed out in a cross, with two small blocks that rode in those channels, and which were connected to a crank.  My shop teacher called it a smoke generator.

That's what that count is, something that really does nothing.

OK, so over there Left Hug (zombie point to the right smilie...) where my avatar and the links to my profile, etc are, is the 'Conversations' link.  Next to it, in paranthesis, is a number (currently 9).  What is that number for?  I noticed today that when I start a new conversation it goes down by one.... is there a limit to the number of conversations we can be involved in at any one time??

I think the FSM Forum gurus really need to post a sticky thread that explains all the little notations, colors, and icons of the new forum....
