The best way to search is to go to the closest category forum, in this case Aircraft. Once there you'll notice that there is now a drop down menu that is already fixed on Aircraft, type in your "German Aircraft Camouflage Techniques" search phrase and you'll get this search result.

So long folks!

I could be missing it but can you search by category?  I'm searching for "German Aircraft Camouflage Techniques" and I'm getting a bunch of armor posts.

Search is located on the right hand sidebar under the avatar and public profile section and is called "Search our Community". Be careful when you use it that the drop down menu displays the correct area you wish to search, or you won't get the results you wish.

I hope that the FSM chief editor will put someone who is a forum user on the web site "downgrade" team. There are so many lost function compared to the old forum. It is unbelievable.

I don't mind to re-learn new tricks. But if they were not there......................Dead

I can't even get the main search window to allow me to type in anything! The problem here, is that I'm going to post a pretty common question, because I can't search any present  or past threads...Going to add a lot of redundancies...

Yes, there still appears to be issues witht he search function.

It seems that the system has only indexed posts older than 12-17-2009 , and of my own posts, only back s far as 03-29-2006.

It does not seem to be able to find posts written since 12-17-2009.

There's no "direct" way to get to what now serves as "Advanced search". You must first initiate a search and then scroll to the bottom of the page of results to find the "More Search Options " option.

Once you get there, the "with date" and "Sorted by" options ignore any options entered/selected and only present search results using the default settings.

Well at least I don't feel like I'm crazy now, guess I'm not the only one. I thought it might have been my browser (Firefox) or just me not knowing how to work it.

I do hope they fix it, by the sound of things its like everything pre-updated Forum is unsearchable and when I click to follow a link (like if someone posts hey here's my old thread ___) it takes me to an error page.

It's great that all the old posts weren't lost in the transition but if no one can get to them they might as well have been! Sad

Chris

Very good question.  I've run into a similar thing, but in a different way:

I want to look at one of my old posts - from last year at this time.  I click on the post count under my avatar to go to the list of my previous posts (an incomplete list - nothing more recent than 17 December - but a list nonetheless).  I scroll to the bottom, click the 'Advanced Search', look for posts between 25 December 08 and 10 January 09 and get.... taken right back to the first page of the list.  So my options are to give up, or to go back page by page (since you can only go two pages at a time) all the way through last years posts... what a PITA...

PLEASE FIX THE SEARCH FUNCTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the old FSM it was hard to use, but one could manage, you could at least get results- now no matter what I've put into the search feature... I get 0 results. Is there a big trick? I don't get it. And did the "advanced search" disappear or is it somewhere around here I haven't found?

I guess I'll try that "filter" thing next.

Thanks for any help! Smile
