I believe the only way is to contact the forum administrator to ask them to do it.

I haven't found a way to delete posts yet. Conversations, sure, but not posts. Gerald is correct, at this point contact an admin and request the deletion. You could always edit (found in the "More" button on the post in question) the post and leave it blank, or with a "Post deleted by writer" comment.

I recall how someone did that on a gaming forum I used to visit and it turned into the longest and most fun thread on the boards.

And then I posted the above, hit the "More" button, and there was Delete!! So apparently it's in the more button. Odd, I just checked an older thread I posted in and there was no option to delete. I wonder if it's a time limited option?

Edit/ It is post limited at the least. Once this post was made, I no longer had the option to delete the preceding post, only the newer one.

So the answer now is, once a post has a reply posted after it, it can only be deleted by an admin. BUT you can delete your newest post, provided no-one else has responded to it.

Sounds like Think Twice Act Once is the first rule of posting! /Edit

2nd Edit/ Editing a post eliminates the option as well! /Edit

I believe it's a time-limited thing starting from when you post the message, regardless of whether there's a reply following or not..

I've checked some of my posts which are the last post in a thread and have no "delete" option under "More". However, I have recently been able to delete a duplicate post which came about as a result of using the "back" arrow on my browser rather than using the forum navigation links.

Edit: After posting this, I checked the "More" button and Delete is indeed listed there. I suspect that it will vanish shortly though.

Well? IS it still there? Hmm

I suspect it is both time and post limited. It becomes very convoluted to remove posts once others have replied. The term thread is a very apt one, pull on the wrong one and the stability of the database can come apart.

45 minutes later, the delete option is gone!

And no, it didn't take the full 45 minutes. I meant to check back every 15 and forgot!

Edit/ seems to be a five minute window /edit

So long folks!
