The flash is certainly true, but experienced modelers can handle flash. Some WB models have better detail than others. Fit is the same way, some of their kits fit well, others do not. They aren't the best, but their subjects are so neat many of us will put up with the spotty quality. Their racing planes are pretty nice.
Their large scale engine kits are the best of WB. These have less flash, the fit is better, and detail is VERY good.

They look to me like a garage/ cottage industry type kit. They will take some work to look good. I have seen some though that are absolutely amazing, I'm sure it just took some work.
I have one that's about 30% fnished. I had to add some of my own detail to the cockpit, which is pretty sparse, and was in the process of figuring out how to add rigging when I either lost interest or became otherwise distracted.

"Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench."
I came across a 1/32nd kit of a Gee Bee manufactured by Williams Brothers. In all my yrs of modeling I have never heard of them. Can anyone let me know as to the quality of the kit? Detail, panel lines good plastic etc.
Thanks!
