Thanks, Jon!

The piece I was missing was navigating back to my profile and looking at the Favorites list.  It didn't look like anything had happened, after clicking the Add functions in the More dropdown menu.  But I see now how it comes out.

To mark something as a favorite you must be logged in. Then when you are reading a post, at the top right hand corner of each post entry there are two options: Reply and More.

Select more and you'll see the option to Add as Favorite.

Once you've done that, you must then view your Public Profile.

Within your profile, scroll down and on the right hand side you'll see Favorites. Beneath that should be a link to the forum you just subscribed to.

Hope that helps.

Edit: In the More option you have the ability to Add Forum as Favorite or Add Post to Favorite. If you add the forum, you'll be adding the entire forum category, in this case Community Assistance (aka Forum Help). If you add the post to favorites, selecting the link in your Public Profile will always take you back to that particular post. So if you do this, you'll probably want to select the very first post in a thread as your favorite.

Bill,

I don't do 'favorites' either, but to find them, don't you go into your profile.  On the right hand side (about where the 'Shortcuts' window is (what a useless window THAT is, but I digress) on the 'main page' is a window for 'Favorites'.  Does it list them there?

Well... how about that.  I actually helped answer someone's question for a change.  And I didn't even get in a pi$$ing match with ANYONE...

Kinda boring...

I'm not so sure we've answered this one just yet, though.

I had this same question--I'd like to follow or subscribe to a thread, or mark it a favorite--but couldn't find any option on the page that does that.  A search on keyword "subscribe" only turned up posts from guys bitching about having to subscribe to the magazine, to get access.  So, I eventually found this forum ("Community Assistance" is certainly misleading, probably why they added the explanatory comment after it) and this thread.

I've checked the Forum Subscriptions link, and it looks like there's functionality to subscribe at the level of the individual forums, but not an individual thread.  Have you found how to follow a specific thread--without actually adding a post, which adds it to your "forum discussions"?

Maybe one of the staff will read this thread and post a response.

Best regards,

Brad

Bang Head

I NEVER go to my own profile page. Why would I do that? Hmm

But you are right. That's where they are!

And there is the answer for the OP, mark it as a favorite and track it from your profile page.

So long folks!

There is an option to make a thread a favorite. Only problem is, I've never figured out how to find a list of my favorites! There is the "Your Forum Discussions" button over by your avatar on the sidebar, but it lists forums you've participated in, not the favorites.

You can also subscribe to a particular forum such as Armor, and get an email.

I've enabled comment notifications. This requires that you either participate in the thread, or choose to have emails sent to you.

As Boyd says, it can quickly fills up your inbox. I see that a particular topic has been active, and either follow the link in the email sent, or just log in to the FSM site and find it. I use Outlook, so it's easy to setup a rule that I can then run on occasion that selects all automated emails from FSM and delete them. Most email programs come with some ability to create rules, so check it out.

So long folks!

I think he is refering to the top of the page, it shows replies and followers. I've been curious what that is all about too, but not curious enough to ask. Smile

Ummmmm, what do you mean by 'follow it'?

If it is just something I am interested in, but have not posted in, I'll just keep it in mind and go to that particular forum to see if there is any new activity.  If it is one I posted in, I'll check my 'Your Forum Discussions' link to see what I have missed.  I know that you can change your settings to get e-mail notifications of activity in specific threads, but I just don't want to get my inbox full of messages that I can just as easily track down myself.
