"Remember Me" feature doesn't appear to work; users have to log in frequently
Posted by the Baron on Monday, April 18, 2016 11:41 AM

We're getting prompted relatively frequently to log in when accessing the forum, even though we check the "Remember Me" option at login.  For me, I'll stay logged in throughout the week, when I access the forum each day.  But I usually don't access the forum on the weekend, and I'm finding that my login has expired, when I first access the forum again on Monday.  It's not a big deal, just an indication that something might not be working as expected/designed.

We have a discussion about this in another thread

http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/general_discussion/f/9/t/170176.aspx

with comments from multiple users, to describe variations of this issue.

Yes this appears to be happening to me more frequently lately.

Now, this Monday, I wasn't prompted to log in, but I did access the forum on Sunday, which is different from my usual pattern of use.

In the thread  I referenced, there are posts from other users, reporting more occurrences.  Looks like it's still an ongoing issue.  Not critical to using the forum, but a bit of a nuisance.

The auto-correction feature present in basically ALL the other forums was never taken care off as well as the link to the latest posts when looking at the recent discussions making navigating the forum an unpleasant experience.....I dont think the issue you mentioned will be taken car off either.  It will be ignored, in fact this is not the first thread addresing the issue. The attitude by admins and owners is take it or leave it, sad but true.

See what I meant?  No one addressed the issue or even took the time to at least post something. No one cares and its sad to see this comunity of good folks treated like this.

This weekend, I didn't access the forum, and today, I was forced to log in.

Another forum I belong to had a similar issue.  Their pages are built with a different software package, but in the end, it was a configuration issue in that forum, made necessary by developments with browsers (ie, browser updates).

Yep, same thing again, after this weekend and two days without accessing the forum.  Forced to log in.

Save your breath and time. Like the auto correct or spell check, it is likely not to be corrected. But the nanny bot is fully functional, so sleep well.

After that other fella gretzed so much about how unresponsive the staff are, I sent a PM to Aaron about the thread.  I agree, it's a low impact bug, and doesn't significantly impede our use of the forum, so it'll probably persist till the next forum upgrade and/or browser updates.  But it's worth it to note the occurrences.

Guys,

We are aware of the fact that the Forum now requires users to log in after their account has been inactive for a couple of days. I have to do the same thing if I don't look at the Forum over the weekend. It appears to be part of the new authentication software's security protocols and at the moment there is nothing we can do to change that. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Regards, Aaron
