Greetings from upstate New York
Posted by ManCityFan on Monday, September 26, 2016 5:48 PM

Hello all,

At the age of 52, I have decided to get back to a hobby I enjoyed in college.  I have a large bin full of unbuilt models bought in the 1980's, and am looking forward to getting some skills to do them justice.

Used to build models in college (quite badly, I must admit) without painting the whole model, leaving huge gaping seams, etc.

I have been looking at the forums the past couple of weeks, and this site is chock a bock full of useful information from folks that know what they are doing!

Pulled out my sadly neglected Paasche H, and already found out from experience what happens when you don't thin properly.  In the process of ruining a Henschel 129 by MPC (so old the company is gone).

As you may notice, I am a huge fan of English soccer.  Up Manchester City!!

Anyway, enjoying the forums.  Thanks all!!

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Welcome to the Forums!

I use the Paasche H, too.  It's still a pretty good airbrush.

Yes, of course I mean football.  But here in the States, if you say football, you get funny looks and snarky comments.  My friends know that when I say football, I mean what most of the world knows as football.

Greatest quote from John Oliver: "When an Englishman says soccer, another Englishman dies".  Smile

I actually live in Albany, County and City.  Funny how upstate and downstate mean different things to different people.  My ex-girlfriend lived on Long Island, and anything above the Tappan Zee was upstate.  LOL.

How funny. Westchester county is downstate. We're halfway to Montreal.

I'm originally from Scotia, NY and went to Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY.  If you're in the Schenectady area, be sure to stop in at the ESAM Empire State Areoscience Museum to look at some interesting planes and artifacts.

Well, I'm even further North of you - Watertown NY (Northern NY those unfamiliar) - I use to have the P/H but bought a Tamiya one some time ago which I use mostly for fine camo patterns. I also have a cheapo - Harbor Freight one I bought a year or so ago... been one of the best A/Bs I have ever used... easy to strip down for cleaning too! I'll be heading south to SYRCON in October - to enter this time around. I use to enter every year (at SYRCON/ROCON) until it seemed to get too crowded with repeat models from prior years.
