Hello from Birmingham, AL USA

Hello Everyone - I am a long time follower and first time poster.  I like to build large scale automotive models as well as smaller scale cars.  I also like building the occasional ship model and have built a museum quality HMS Victory that took almost 10 years.  These days it's mostly autos and I might try a large scale motorcycle soon as well.

Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your builds. The guys in the ships section would love to see your HMS Victory.

Ship's are a GREAT way to eat up the year's.  When I was 12, I built the Revell 1/96 Constitution. It took me almost two years to build it .... about 10 second's to Obliterate it with Bottle Rocket's.

( I very rarely blow stuff up now ..... but it can still happen ... from time, to time .)

Welcome to FSM.

Thanks for the welcome guys! The ship was a Mantua 1:96 Victory kit. Pretty decent kit. I also built the Scientific Yacht America and USS Kearsarge. Those kits were not nearly as good as the Mantua kit, but you get what you pay for. I also did a plank on frame version of the America and I just recently finished the Revell Germany 1:56 yacht America in plastic. I must say I prefer the wooden kits for ships. Right now I am working on the Doyusha 1:12 Countach and I just recently finished the Tamiya 1:12 Ferrari Enzo and Tamiya 1:12 Porsche Carrera GT kits. Awesome kits, though quite pricey! I also recently did the Trumpeter 1:12 Ford GT which is also a decent kit, though not quite as good as the Tamiya kits.

Ha, just realized, you're not far from Barber Motorsports Park! Man, I'd love to go see that museum.

A great facility with a great track!  It's actually in Leeds, Alabama.  If you wait a while, there will also be the Southern Museum of Flight which is building a new facility next door to Barbers.

Thanks, guys!  Yes, this is Roll Tide country!  And, yes, Barber's is awesome.  I haven't been to the Southern Museum of Flight yet, but it's on the to-do list.
