Well Brad from waco, I am Steve from Grand Prairie. In late May (24th)there is a Model Contest held here in the Dallas metroplex. That weekend Sqadron opens it's doors to the public and lets you take a shopping cart through the warehouse. Bring a credit card and go to town. They've been holding the contest in the Mesquite area near the indoor rodeo place but don't know if that'll be where they hold it this year. Lot's of dealers from all around show up and you can gets of good deals. Oh yea, and then there is Phils. They've got an incredible selection but you have to pay full retail for there stuff. to get info about Scalefest go to www.ipmsnct.org

Thanks Everyone for the replies to my posting and the great help in finding some online model sites, I remember buying from Squadron from my modeling days of the 1970s (still have some of their great old catalogs) have been on eBay since 1997 but not in the model area, but I have discovered it now, and have placed a few bids, won a few and lost many, but it is a great place to buy and sell almost anything.

I will be sure to check out the other sites ya'll (pardon my Texas accent) have given me, I feel like a teenager again, sure brings back excellent memories of my local model shop (had one here in Waco Texas that I just about lived in on the weekends in the 1960s and early 70s) the man who owned it was retired Navy and every kid in the neighborhood hung out there, he was always good to us, never complained that we might only have .50 or a buck to spend (or $5.00 if we got to mow a lawn in the summer)

the other great thing that I have noticed about this FSM web site is something that I also remember from my local model shop back then and that is the friendly and helpful people, and on here we can meet fellow modelers from all over the world, I know that I will enjoy getting to know all of you....take care 4 now!

By the way, My name is Brad from Waco Texas....

Hello there kitbuyer and welcome back to the hobby.

One of my favorite sites is greatmodels.com. They have a great selection, as their name might imply, and good prices too. They stock a lot of after market stuff as well and some nice hobby links. I like Squadron too, they send out a monthly flyer of items on sale. It makes for good bathroom reading! The flyer usually comes around payday, what a help. Try modelexpo-online.com, they have everything from wooden ship models to trains, planes and automobiles. That's just a few off the top of my head, there's a bunch of others that you can find from reading the forum.

Good luck finding your favorite site. Don

Hello there kitbuyer & welcome to FSM community forum(s) ...

I am glad that you are getting back into the hobby and have joined up and stopped by to tell us a little about yourself.

There are lots of web hobby stores ... my favorites might not be the next fellows' pick ... but, I like Squadron mail order and some of the others ... but my all time favorite for new and vintage hobby kits is eBay.com ... I am sure others will give you their favorites ... how about you guys and gals ... help Texas out and tell him your favorite online hobby kit source.

Well, anyway .. welcome!
