Greetings!
Posted by Professor_Fate on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 6:01 PM

Greetings all! I'm brand spanking new to this forum and am excited to learn new things and to hone my modeling skills. I used to do scale models as a teenager, which is pretty long ago now. Recently I decided to take up the hobby again and am in the middle of my second build. I enjoy doing both cars and airplanes from any vintage and every period of history. I have done some ships in the past and even a few plastic locomotives as well. I hoping to learn more about painting, especially doing washes for creating panel accent coloring. I’d like to learn how to get into the ultra-realistic finish look. Any tips or tricks welcome! Thanks in advance!

Welcome back to the hobby, and welcome to the forum, Professor!  Love your forum handle and avatar, "The Great Race" is an excellent film.  "Push the button, Max!"

Best regards,

"The Great Race" is one of my favorite motion pictures of all time. I hope to create a scale model of the "Hannibal Twin Eight" and the "Leslie Special" someday! Thanks for the warm welcoming Brad!

Hello and welcome to the forum. It must be fate!, Professor Fate that is.... I have just started a build that you may be interested in. It is a 1910 Thomas Flyer. It looks very much like the 1907 THomas Flyer which won the actual Great Race from New York to Paris.

I have been looking at the possibility of converting my 1910 back into the 1907 race winner. It or possibly the "Leslie Special". Both will require extensive modifications even though the Thomas Flyer is what both the movie and real car are.

Enough of that already, just funny that I am starting the build and Professor Fate comes along... quincidence?..... I doubt itSurprise

Welcome, Prof -
They say our hobby is great for sanity, especially during this lockdown period of our lives.

Sanity?  Check back with me in a couple of hours when I am tearing out yet more hair, dealing with a part smaller than a splinter that I wouldn't even bother to take out of my finger.  Welcome to this group of us who have a really odd perspective on "sanity".
Regards,
Rick
