Back Again
Posted by Blaine on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 6:56 PM

I've been away from the forum so long I feel like I'm new. I actually joined back in 2012 sporatically worked on a few models, haven't beem completely happy with the results.

I'm one of these people that feels he needs every tool available before starting any project, yes including a 3D printer that I'm just learning.

I have a love hate relationship with my badger 150 air brush, mainly getting it back together after cleaning.

I have two models I haven't even started because I feel my skill level isn't up to what I want for them, that is the S2 Stoof, and the P2V Neptune. I love WWII fighters, the ones I have built P47, P51, P38 just aren't up to the quality I see from so many of you.

I also have build some model cars that I'm mildly happy with, mainly cars I had when I was young and that was a long time ago.

FSM is a great magazine and the quality of work that some of you do amazes me.

Merry Christmas to you all and lets have a better 2021

Welcome!

If the Neptune is the old Hasegawa kit; don't blame yourself. It is a poorly fitting model.

Yes it is the Haseqawa kit, I think that is the only kit available for that old bird. I had a very short experience with that thing back in the early 70s, it gave you the feeling of what the WWII guys flew other than they didn't have the J34 jet engines.

Welcome back!  What scale is the S2? I did the 1/72 haegawa kit but converted it to a S2T cal fire tanker.  aggieman did a build thread on the kinetics 1/48 kit.

Thanks,

John

I do think that is supposed to be 'tip toe rather than 'tip to' but I have been wrong before.

Welcome aboard!

I type on a tablet. Please excuse the terseness and the autocorrect. Not to mention the erors.

It's the 1/48 scale. We have several S2 in my area that have been converted for firefighting. They have installed turbo props on most of them, seems like it made a pretty good bird out of it.

Thanks for all the welcomes. Santa Clause added a new tool, a 3D printer, I already have the CAD program so this is going to be fun.

I also want to build the P3 Orion, that's the aircraft I spent most of my time in, also the most boring.

I'm finishing up an A1 Skyraider

Question: Do any of you have experience making your own decals on inkject printers, if so any advice would be appreciated.

Check out the "Decaling" section. Have gotten loads of help on decals there.

Hope that this helps.
