New to Modelling
Posted by Outbreak on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 2:09 PM

Hi,

I'm new to the hobby. I built some models with my dad when I was a kid, but we didn't know much more than gluing parts together and spray painting. I am proud of my B-52G, but looking back, it was very sloppy.

I'm a pilot by trade and I decided a few years ago to start collecting models of all the aircraft I've been qualified in. So I have a stack of kits collecting dust in a closet, and decided it's time. Since I'm intimately familiar with each aircraft, I need to do them right or I'll be forever annoyed with them.

I don't know which one to do first. I've decided it's between the Cessna 152 or the C-130.

I look forward to learning from this community, so I can make my best effort replicating my favorite airplanes.

Welcome back to the hobby and to the forum, Outbreak!  There's a strong collection of airplane modelers, civil as well as military, so I think you'll find you're in good company.

I look forward to seeing your builds!

Best regards,

Brad

Oh, and a PS-before you ask, you need a hosting site of some kind, to host picture files, if you want to add pictures to your posts.  That's probably the most common "first question" new members ask Wink  I use Postimage, myself.

Hi and Welcome;

 Start with the Cessna. That way it's a small plane and if you goof you can go back a fix it easier.

Welcome

Like TB said, start with the Cessna

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Welcome aboard!   I had the opportunity to fly in a 152.  What a tiny little plane - wacked my head on the wing heading for the door.  I recall sitting shoulder to shoulder with my pilot friend.  Look forward to your builds.

Thanks,

John
