Welcome aboard.
I long to live in a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned
I ended up using black chrome bare metal foil on the F7F-2N wheels to try to stop the tire disintegration/dissolution issue - verdict isn't in yet on if the metal will block the chemical reaction - just finished that one (well stopped progress for now) a week ago.

Welcome. I've always liked the Tigercat - built the AMT kit ages ago and have another in the stash for a fire bomber conversion project. Looking forward to your builds.
Thanks,
John

Welcome to the forum,
As mentioned already there are some wonderful modelers here who'll answer your questions and offer their advice. I really like your idea for your project to honor your father's service to our country. Good luck!

Hi! Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard.
Looking forward to seeing your work. That sounds like a very involved project. Make sure you check out the "Airplanes" section of the Forums. The members there are very knowledgeable and could give you a lot of help and info. Don't be afraid to ask for help. That's what we're here for.
I had a very good friend that flew P-47's in WWII. I built a model of his plane and presented it to him on his 95th birthday. Also built a P-51 for another friend whose father was a P-51 pilot in WWII. Also restore model planes, ships and armor for a WWII museum.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
Just joined - working on modeling in 1/48 all the aircraft from my father's flight log page dated "30 JUN '50" when he re-upped for Korea:

I have jacket patches for VMF-124 and he recieved the DFC in Korea in an F7F Night Fighter (VMA-513 - if the patch with an eagle with night/day background & lightning bolts downward is that) out of Wonsan (I think) so I'm working on those too. -2 -2N -3 -3N (guessing he had to train in a twin-engine at some point but he passed in 2013 so details are irretrievable)
Also making 1/48 vehicles for scale and sidelining with 1/35 armor for changes of pace.
Also working on a 1/16 diorama with the Model Airways Wright Flyer and scrounging up some pre 1904 vehicles for background.
Thanks!
