Hi there! I'm Cfinley, or you can call me Connor. I'm from Texas, and have stumbled upon a few models in my time, but haven't gotten the time to build until recently. I'm hoping my time on this forum will help me get some of these done, and figure out other mysteries in modelling. Pleasure to meet you!
I really dunno what to put here yet
Hi Connor! Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you with us.
If you need any help with questions/problems don't be afraid to ask. That's what we're here for.
Check out all the sections of the forum to help in seeing what you'd like to build.
Jim

Welcome Conner. We have a few other Texans around here.
Thanks,

Not quite sure where to start posting but I'm gonna start an Airfix P-51D soon. Just need to clear space in the garage to have my workspace. I really love prop planes, and I'm going to have a ton of them eventually.
If you're starting a plane, post it in the "Aircraft"section. Ships go in the "Ships" section, etc.
If you have any problems, just ask.
Good on yer mate and welcome from downunder. This is a great place with great people and all the help in the world, if you want it.
I long to live in a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned
Welcome to the hobby and welcome to the forum, Connor! I look forward to seeing your builds!
Best regards,
Brad
The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
Welcome Connor
Hey since you're just getting started check out the group build section. It's where all the action is! You may find a group and can add your build to it. It's a great way to meet people virtually here and start out with people doing something with a common interest.
In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
Is this the Connor with the Collect-Aire P-51H? I was thinking of recommending you sign on here, but it looks like I procrastinated too long. Welcome!

Yep! Thank you for the instructions! I'm gonna keep that one on the shelf for a while, but I intend to build it one day. I really like 1/48, as it seems the perfect balance for scale, price, and detail. Any advice for a specific airbrush I should get, by the way? I no longer have the airbrush I used to own, as it broke.
Yeah, don't attack the P-51H right away. Resin kits are different, best to start out working with resin improvement sets for injection molded kits.
I have several Badger airbrushes, some 150 double action suction brushes, but also two gravity types ehich I much prefer. One is a 100 single action with a small paint cup, the other a double action with a larger paint cup. Iwata and Sotar seem to be well liked but I haven't used them. The main thing with any airbrush is spending the time to learn to use it and to thin the paints suitable for the airbrush you are using and for the task you have at hand.

I'll certainly take note of that. My father used to build models when he was younger, so I'll see if he can give a more.. Tactile, introduction to painting with an air brush. I've never been great with spray cans, which I'd imagine function similarly to air brushes? I'm not entirely sure.
Do a search for Don's Airbrush. He has a lot of pros and cons on different makes and models.
There are some things the same and some differences with rattle cans.
On a personal note I have a NEO, and like it. Usually a decent price at Hobby Lobby.

On the bench: A diorama to illustrate the crash of a Beech T-34B Mentor which I survived in 1962 (I'm using Minicraft's 1/48 model of the Mentor), and a Pegasus model of the submarine Nautilus of 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas fame.
Welcome to the forum, Connor! Nice to see someone young like you make models.
This is a friendly community and everyone here knows their thing. I learned a lot of things here that helped me with my models. You can ask anyone here and they would have a good answer. Have fun modelling!
Made you Look
You've come to the right place!
Welcome to the mad house. you'll find a lot of information and help here, collectively centuries of experience between us. Unfortunately it can be approaching a century worth in some individual cases, like me.
What is your favorite prop jub? For me it would be the P-39, P-61, and Hurricane for WWII. After that comes the OV-10, C-130, and H-43 Helicopter. After all they are prop jobs, just with theirs pointed in a different direction.

I'm thankful, then. I enjoy listening to feedback and learning from people who know more about what they're doing than I do!
I personally like more experimental aircraft, but if we're talking production, then likely the B-24, B-17. Though if we ARE talking prototypes, I love the weird stuff, like the XP-77, and the XB-39.
G'Day Connor and welcome to the forums.
Hi Connor;

Sometime in February or March might work! I'm about an hour away from there! I'll have to make a proper forum post about the models I have queued up... I just need to find them first.. Too many things to find after the move, it would seem.
Hey Connor;
Take your time, We will be here for ya! Relax and take your time sorting your likes and dislikes. After All, we have a category for just about anything. "Cept trains, there's way to many books dedicated to them anyway!
Welcome, Connor.
Like John, I have a Badger double action airbrush, in my case a Patriot 105.
My advice on airbrushes is to buy a good one, even if it takes you a bit of time to do so.
Look in on the airbrush forum here; that's where the experts are.
An airbrush is quite different from a spray can. A double action brush gives control of both the air flow and the paint volume. That takes practice, but is worth learning.
Again, a good brush is money well spent.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
