Longtime modeler first time poster
Posted by Svt40 on Thursday, January 6, 2022 6:25 PM

I've been a modeler since I was a small kid in the 70's.  Starting out on snap together kits and some of those strange "weld" together kits as well.

I've built a little bit of everything but it's always been tanks for me.  The last model I completed was around 1995.  It was a SdKfz222.  I still have it too.

I came across this website as I was searching Kitty Hawk SH-60B builds. and decided to join up as maybe it will help motivate me a bit.

Hello there! Welcome to the Forums. Glad to have you with us.

Welcome back to the hobby. You've come to the right place. The members here are very knowledgeable and ready to help out with questions/problems that you might have. Got a problem, just ask. We've all been there at one time or another.

I started building in 1946 (6 years old) and, along with other hobbies, never stopped. I build whatever strikes my fancy at the time and my wallet says OK.Wink My favorites are WWI & WWII planes followed by sailing ships.

Post pics of your builds.

Welcome back to the hobby and to this forum.  Great modelers here who are aiways willing to lend a hand or to offer advice.  I'm also a child modeler of the 60s & 70s who was brought up on Aurora,Monogram, & Revell kits that were purchased at the local Dime Store, Kmart, and Woolworths.

Hi Jim,

Any tips for someone new to the hobby who hasa collection mainly of 1:48 Revell and Tamiya kits that belonged to a family member (passed)?

Thinking of starting out with a simple build. If the hobby isn't for me, then will pass the kits to someone else or sell them.

Any rare items to look for? Most are planes...maybe a couple of ships and cars, also different scales.

Thanks,

S CA Lady

Tank-Builder, you're so right!  Wemalso had a Kresges on Main Street in my home town when I was growing up.  Was it Kresges or Woolworths that had the lunch counter?
