Palantirion

Hello all, and thanks for making me feel welcome. Baron, I think we did meet over on SMA. I posted this Dougram on a few different forums to get different perspectives of feedback. Got a great reminder on accentuating contrast from a guy on reaperminis.

Welcome Sign aboard, Earl...always nice to have another inmate in the asylum! (If we behave ourselves, we get pudding! Big Smile) But, seriously, I think you'll enjoy your time here...it's a good group with all sorts of interests and varieties of work and levels of experience on display. Best yet, no 'prima donnas' (at least, that I've come across); everybody's more interested in sharing than ****ing on each others' hard work.

I personally have been building planes, cars, ships, armor and a little of everything else since the '60s...and I still learn things here on a regular basis. We seem to try to stay focused on the fact that hobbies should be fun. The challenge...a little 'showing off,' from time to time...and the occasional weird off-topic discussion, are all just bonuses.

Look forward to seeing your stuff! Yes

Greg

Welcome to the FineScale forum, Earl!  Did we "meet" in the Scale Model Addict forum, too?  Your handle is familiar.

I look forward to seeing your work!

Best regards,

Brad

Thanks guys. Yeah, anything I can share to help build the knowledge base. I've had to do a lot of solo problem solving with wierd (usually not model related) projects. Like my art cars. For example: You can use Liquitex Gloss Medium and Varnish (not necessarily High Gloss Varnish, that's a different product) as a primer in order to paint stainless steel. Or: Use white vinegar instead of mineral spirits to dust after sanding automotive primer. Removes dust just as well but won't attack the primer's binder.

Hello.
Posted by Palantirion on Thursday, September 1, 2022 11:49 PM

Hello, my name is Earl. I mostly paint on canvas, but have also hand painted two [not model] cars, helmets, and more recently I've been focusing more on modeling, resin figure repair, toy modification and miniature painting. I am about to post my first thread with pictures over in the Armor section.

I'm an investor by trade, my artwork is either for myself as a hobby or pro bono for museums or friends.
