Clemens shows something that gets glossed over in "stash threads"

We all show photos of piles of kits, and we all marvel at how many some people have. But Clemens shows his Paint stash, his PE stash, and his Resin parts stash. That leaves the many decal stashes, and "hobby specific" book stashes. Those other five stashes are sometimes the places that the "real money" goes to. As expensive as plastic kits seem sometimes,,,,,often that part of the hobby is the cheapest. ($4 to $6 a bottle for paint, $10 to $20 per decal sheet, $40 for a paperback book,,,,,you get the idea)

You got that right. I've got about 30 sets of Fruils still waiting to be used. It gets dammed expensive once you start adding all the extras.

Anne's favorite story is my first Kfir (F-21A)  She found it at the '08 Nats for $3. Pretty cool, eh?,,,,,but, then if didn't have any decals,,,,so we got the Isradecal F-21 sheet. That had color call outs for the camo,,,,,,and I didn't have any of the Israeli colors in Acrylic, because I had cut non-US aircraft out of my collection.

So, I matched up the FS numbers, and bought each of the Israeli colors. And it will sit on a shelf with a ton of other kits with a resin ejection seat,,,,,,so, I got one of those. I didn't have any Kfir books, but, luckily, I found a SAMI magazine that dealt with Kfirs,,,,and the "free" D&S book on USN jets that came in one Monogram model came into my possession.

So, now I have the kit, I have the decal sheet, I have the ejection seat, I have a book and a magazine, and I have the paints,,,,,,,,,and I am less than halfway through my "one of each tail code" part of my planned collection,,,,,,,,,and the F-21A Kfir is now off topic,,,,,,,so, I have no idea of when I will start it.

that folks, is how stashes grow so large, lol (note, in my opening line, I said "first Kfir",,,,there are other options on that decal sheet, so I bought another model kit)

It also causes the "did you start the Kfir or my Dad's B-17 yet?" questions

Good luck. I have made it a rule that I will only replace rubber band tracks. the ones I have must have cost close to £900. If I replaced all the tracks in my Dragon kits, I would be bankrupt.

Yeah, I only replace the tracks on all kits that don't have Magic Tracks. The only exception are the big German cats, I hate using those Magic Tracks on large tanks...

Rex: I have to agree with you on that one. A half-decent selection of tools is bloody expensive. AM sets aren't the cheapest part of the hobby either. My P-47 AM stuff costs at least as much as all my Jug kits. The paints aren't that expensive because I thin them quite heavily most of the time. One bottle of Gunze paint sets me back 2,90€ and Tamiya paints are 4,40€ each.

In a heart beat my friend!  If I could I most certainly would!  I loved it there when I went.

This is my cabin in the garden that my wife and I built in 2009 where I build my kits.

I have around 80, about 20 planes, 4 military vehicles and the rest are cars, bikes and trucks.

The spray booth is over to the left, made up of a box, the lid hangs down in front, the top is cut out with a cooker extractor fan on top. Also in the cabin I have a large table, various lamps, one magnified and two Ikea display cabinets.

I started collecting kits around 5 years ago before I retired and spend as long as possible in the cabin Monday-Friday.

Joe, Clemens, and Pat: Gee you guys are WAY too neat! Nice collections though even if they aren't leaning and crammed in the corner!

Clemens: Super nice stash- but you really need more Japanese subjects!!!

Pat, a modeling shed. Wow, how cool is that!

A modelling shed, eh? Hmmmmm.... I had planned on getting a new shed next spring or so. Makes me think whether I should go big or go home. LOL! Of course, the shed has to be large enough to store rider mower, lawnmower, 2 snowblowers and patio furniture (for winter storage) plus space to work on my models I should be good to go.

I have been wanting to do the same Blacksheep. I was planning on a big one, enough for building and displaying everything. I had hoped to do it this year but have not had much work on so have had to eat into my savings. But one day I will get round to it, hopefully soon as I am out of display space.

I think FineMolds did a Type 89 at one time but HobbyLink Japan doesn't have it listed now.

I heard plenty of nice things about Finemolds so I'll keep an eye out for their kit (with some luck I might be able to find it on evilbay). Thanks for the info, buddy!

I share Bish's sentiments regarding the roof. Improvise man, improvise! LOL!!

My dad always said when you are out of space, the only way to go is up, Clemens.

Switch to serious....do you really have tile roofs in Vienna? They are only in the warmer climates over here in the wild west.

Switch back again.... they can be tricky to cut through.
