What is a Tough Old Bird ?
Posted by Tanker - Builder on Thursday, April 19, 2018 7:35 AM

This is an interesting question ;

 Does it mean the Turkey or Chicken is inedible ? Naw . It pertains to Old Men who stand on principle , Women too .

 It describes the " Old Guard " which is slowly passing into history . Those who served their country , raised a law abiding , religious ( to a point , for some ) family and gave all for their world .

 Giving all isn't just patriotism . It's doing for your community . I still believe in that old saw ." It takes a community to raise a child ." The school aged members of my neighborhood know if something isn't right , go to " DOC's House .He'll call our parents!  That's the way it was for me .

See an accident ,? Help where you can , my neighbors did when I couldn't get out of my T-Boned van last year  .We do here in New Braunfels .

    Someone is hurt for whatever reason . Help out where you can . If you can only walk a dog , answer a door or even just be a shoulder to cry on .  "Tough Old Bird "? Naw - Just well seasoned !     Tanker - Builder       P.S. It's also an old plane , broken many times , but still flying .

The late First Lady. You know it's key when her children describe her as "the enforcer", implying that their dad (Naval Aviator, CIA Director, Vice President and President) is a softy.

 Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I'd say P-47s and Hawker Typhoons qualify, considering the pictures I've seen of them making forced landings and going through buildings, or brick or stone walls, with pilots walking away.

I know some fighter pilots who swore certain of their birds were alive :-)

Yeah , Don !

I have experienced that with My J-3 . That plane always seemed ready , willing and able to hop right into the sky . Even if there was a wind coming down the hangar aprons . She wanted UP !

 I believe that what was used in battle did indeed seem imbued with a life . Possibly from those who built them and wanted to stop this war ?

With me it was the Grumman Yankee, after flying clunky (but easy to fly) stuff from Cessna.  Even the T-37 didn't respond like that little Yankee.  Never got a chance to fly a real fighter- the Tweety was the closest thing, before I washed out.
