Any of you FSMers play guitar?

Awesome!  I do play recreationally.  It's a great thing to sit and play for a hour or until my finger tips cant take it anymore.  I have a Fender acoustic, a Schechter electric for thrashing and a Fender bass I rarely pick up.

Your guitar has a great brightness to it.  New strings?  

I use Cleartone coated strings.  Awesome.

I use Earthwood light gauge strings!

Used to. Sold my Michael Kelly a few years ago and have regretted it many times since.  Every now and then my fingers get the itch though. Fingertips have gotten soft, would need to remake all those hard-earned calluses!

(All my Guitars are in good shape but my Ampeg Olympian head is burned out. Fortunately my Twin Reverb and Sun head work just fine.  Glad I mixed my Teac 4 channel reel-to-reel recordings to cassette as the Teac only turns on and no joy for play-back anymore.)

Yup.  A 50th Anniversary Strat and an imitation Les Paul with DiMarzio PAF and Humbucking pick ups through a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10 amp, a Mackenzie and Marr acoustic / electric (saw them advertised on Dragon's Den - great guitar!), Yamaha acoustic and a Washburn 12 string acoustic.

My brother swore by Ernie Ball strings.  The coated strings I mentioned are great for lazy guys like me that don't change the strings often enough.  They tend to resist oxidizing.

I play guitar sometimes, mostly a 12 string, but have a 6-string also.  Been a while since I played regularly.

Yep EB strings really last!I put these on in July and they still look new despite it being played everyday.

Regarding strings, I use Fender Super Bullet Ultra Lights - .009 - .042 on my Strat, D'addario Ultra Lights on the Les Paul copy and Dean Markly Phosphor Bronze Ultra Lights on the acoustics.  I find them much easier on the fingers.

 Not so much, these days.

My band days have been gone a few years...it was a combination of a complete lack of dedicated individuals with any sort of reliability, and I never quite completely recovered from a pinched nerve in the neck. I couldn't play for about a year or so. I do have full function in my arm and fingers...but I just couldn't get the rust knocked off enough to be able to entertain myself for more than about 5 minutes...and it takes more than 5 minutes to knock the rust off!

 I still have all my gear...

      How did you know? My playing was mostly for Family gatherings. I couldn't take my Sister's Piano to my Aunt's and Uncle's or Grandparent's . But I could Take a Dominica Acoustic. This Guitar came from Sicily back in the forties. 

 It had been Grandfather's, He gave it to me as a Confirmation Present. He played it regularly. It always sounded so beautiful and you could make it almost talk. But softly, as He ( Granpa) said "Like a Lover whispering to his Lady. " 

     I still look at it and strum from time to time. I do though keep it in tune. Electric never caught on with me until Metallica and Kiss.

 The blue one? Sounds close to the others. The only reasons I held on to it...1, it was my first Jackson, and 2, it has a beautiful "clean" sound. For the past 20 years, I have only used it in the studio. I got so used to the way the V style sits, nothing else is comfortable, and I feel like a goon!

The acoustic? Just a run of the mill elec/acoustic. I bought it, and built a "gracey" stand for it, to use on stage. Had just a few rehearsal sessions with it, then life changed and it never did get to see a stage.

 Way back, when I started playing...all my buddies were goo-goo about Fender and Ibanez. All we had access to, around us were generics. We took the city bus from Schofield Bks, down to Music Mac in Pearl City (Hawaii)...MAN, that was an amazing store. Basically Guitar Center x 3. I tried a Strat...nice, a Les Paul and Explorer...nice, an Ibanez...nice, and many others. I finally got up the nerve to ask to play the Jackson Rhoads (V, like the one I have hanging)....BINGO...that is IT!!!

 There's no denyin, them EMG's are HOT!

So I have a weird issue with my left index finger - repetitive motion issue I suppose, but I can't play a C or A minor or an F.  This has forced me to explore playing something new - here you go... I call this the B minus...lol original messing around.  You can hear the open B over and over, even with the barr chords

I've been playing ever since I was a kid. I even have my first guitar still (1954 Harmony Archtone). I'm not real good, mainly because I just don't focus enough on practicing like I used to but I am great at collecting guitars!!! 

I have a couple American strats, four Les Paul's (One is a 63 jr), a Mexican Tele, some Ibanez acoustics and electrics, a very nice 82 Ovation Custom Legend, a BC Rich Mockingbird, a D'angelico semi-hollow body, Epiphone 1275 double neck, Fender Twin amp and a Marshall JVM 210 half stack, and a Marshall DSL5 for a practice amp and a few pedals. 

I play mainly rock. I play a lot of AC/DC, GnR, Stevie Ray Vaugha, Led Zeppeli, etc... but I kinda suck at it. I just have too many irons in the fire lol. 

I started on 5-string banjo when a college freshman and took up guitar when a college junior. I now have a Guild D-40 12-string, a Martin D-35 6-string, and a Goldtone long-neck banjo. Last year my wife bought me a Rogue mandolin. I played in a small folk-rock band when in college in the late '60s/early '70s in Austin, TX, and did a few solo gigs as well. Pete Seeger and Gordon Lightfoot were my inspiration, and I am fortunate enough to have met both over the years.

A friend of mine from high school is a Grammy-nominated country song writer, and his wife is a fabulous fiddle player. They live not far away, and we used to play together at a small venue in rural North Texas, but the COVID pandemic put a stop to that.

Wow!  You guys have some nice gear.  I have a Fender accoustic, an indonesian Strat that fell into my hands and a Schrecter hellraiser and I'm considering a Gretch white falcon but havent pulled the trigger due to my stupid finger issue

I had some guy offer me a free guitar at work once.

When I asked what he was asking for it, he said "No strings attached!"
