I lettered it by using negative masks..painted the sides if the tender Tamiya flat white and applied vinyl letters.Airbrushed Tamiya semi-gloss black and allowed it to dry for just over an hour's peeled off the vinyl letters to reveal the letters.Minor touch up necessary but I am pleased with the result.
Thats a neat trick, how did you keep the letters on the level and evenly spaced?
we're modelers it's what we do
I penciled an index line to keep the letters straight.
Cool thank you.
Sure!
Never heard of it done that way. I agree, very clever.
And it looks great!
BTW, I'm a UP fan.
Nicely done.
Back in the 90's we did the same on Safari motothomes to label what model they were. Ours were all on one sheet...peel the backing, apply, peel the top cover and paint.
Can probably have them made at most sign makers.
Thanks!works very well!
Look great!

Great job done on the lettering. That is one good looking locomotive.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Hi Phil,
I have never heard of the company Testudo. Do you mean Tenshodo?
EDIT: Tetsudo MokeiSma. That's an old brassie.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Yes from the 50s but built like a tank!
