moving to Shreveport

Thanks TB, brought my tool box into my room till I move into my apartment, good to know about the tip if I do have to travel any long distance again. Haven't had the nerve to open it cause if I do ther might be a 100 models in the hotel room. I hate feeding strange carpet monsters.

   I don't believe you will have a problem with the paint  Now the glue is another matter .If you can , go to Wal-Mart or Target and buy a lunchbox sized cooler .This is what I kept glues in for three moves and subsequent time spent in other states .Worked great too

.On the paint , just make sure you keep the inside of the cap clean and the rims of the jars and then put them on tight as you can every time you finish and store upside down in a dark place .

Found one in Bossier City , he mainly deals in R/C but said he can order anything, there is a train shop, and one in the phone book with no address, probably call him soon. it's called Bobby's Hobbys. Rumored that a Hobbytown is opening, I'll have to keep my eyes open.i'm also looking forward to meeting the Red River Modelers in a couple weeks, they may have more local info. Thanks T. B.maybe we'll meet some day.BTW I came down with about 150 unbuilt kits and all my tools, unless I loose my paint and glue to heat damage I should be set for a bit.

   I do hope you have access to a LHS after you move there .I used to drive down from the Little Rock, Ar. area about every two months and buy stuff in a shop that was easy to find coming in from my state .

Thanks GAF, feels like the local area is easing me into the whole dryer in the shower thing, I can adapt to almost anything so not to worried. At least I won't be shoveling snow this winter LOL.

Don't worry.  We've actually had a mild summer so far. 

Well, I'm here in Shreveport, if Wyoming isn't the top of the world you can see it from there, Colorado and Texas proves the therory the world is lumpy but mostly flat, ya drive and drive and drive, then drive some more. Shreveport seems nice so far, and y'all weren't lying 'bout the humidity, holy smokes. Looking forward to meeting the local model club and maybe finding a hobby shop to call "home".  See same ol' Armornut lurking around just 2100miles from home.

I've heard those riverboats are something, don't gamble much maybe once every couple years so the casino's hold nothing for me unless theres a buffet attached.... then I'm screwed LOL.

Be warned, there are a lot of casinos in Shreveport. Very hazardous to your hobby money.

Everybody says hope ya like humidity, maybe I'll grow gills  LOL. Could be a year before my wife and dog come down, yes modeling is far from what I need to focus on however work will take care of itself, it' s the down time I'm concerned about. I will probably boo hoo here so ya'll have expressed permission to metaphorically slap me if I get outa hand. LOL. will be here to share my excitment as well. Thanks for the encouragement. For sure looking for Red River Modelers and oh yea I hate moving too, gotta do what I gotta do

I wish you well!  I know it is a scary thing to do.  Years ago, I made a job change and relocated half way across the country, leaving the family behind until I could later reunite with them.  It made me a nervous wreck, and all my hair fell out from the stress.  The hair never came back!

Eventually, it all worked out for the better.  Modeling was the last thing on  my mind at that time.

You shouldn't have any trouble locating modelers.  The local IPMS chapter is "Red River Modelers".  They hold a small model show every spring (March).  Here's some photos I took at the last one.

I'm in Longview, Texas about an hour from there.  A little too far to drive over casually.

When you get there, you can visit Barksdale Air Force base and the "Global Air Power Museum".  It's not armor, but it's interesting.

I hate moving!

I don't envy you, I have had 3 major moves in the last 5 years. Did I mention I hate moving?
