I think this lady deserves a big Thank You ! !

      I have been very lucky in life where mates are concerned .The first pushed me gently in the direction of commissions and the second was so fascinated watching me work they both made life special .

    Buy models for me ? No Way ! But tools and supplies , You bet ! They both said that they didn't know enough about model brands and quality so they would leave that up to me . The Budgets always included Daddy's money . I drank little and don't like beers that much , and am not a sports fan , unless it's rowing or running . That's what I did in the schools I went to .

     These ladies espoused the same sentiments she did . All women should read this . I would ask them Why ? The answer was always the same ." You're home with me and the kids ( no 1 ) and you're safe . (no 2 ) " Hey , who's gotchya babe " "  and you're home every night with me , besides it's fun watching you create something ." So there you are , Dumb Luck and Great Mates .

I wish that my family was that understanding! both my mum and my sister see my hobby as a waste of money:(

I am lucky enough to have have a wife who not only encourages and enjoys my modeling, but occasionally enjoys building one herself. She even came second in the ladies class at our state modeling championships a couple of years ago. The entire ground floor of our house is a mancave filled with display cabinets containing models, figures, die-cast cars and motorcycles, metal signs, and a multitude of other cool stuff.

My wife also collects Terminator figures, Corpse Bride figures, Batmobiles (she has 62 of those), cars from the movie "Cars", old 50s/60s tricycles and scooters, Betty Boop figures, Nightmare before Christmas figures, Hellboy figures, Volkswagon buses, and we also share a lot of collections like Hot Wheels cars (we have about 1700), Spawn figures, Predator figures, mini NFL helmets, Minichamps die-cast Moto GP motorcycles, McFarlane NFL figures, as well as other stuff. She looks for stuff more than I do sometimes! It's great!!

I consider myself very lucky to have her. Yeah,.....I think I'll keep her!

Thanks Gamera. I'm pretty happy about getting it. Now I can think about building the Bandai 1/24 George in my stash and the 1/72 Type XI. Both are HUGE.

Mine was never yea or nay on it, just kind of ignored if I got a kit to put away or open up.  Hope she is watching me as I get back into it now.

Hey Blacksheep.  I hear ya about the space!  I have just under 400 kits!  My hobby room is filled to the gills with kits on shelves and now I put a whole wall of wooden shelves for the built ones!  Space is definitely a major factor with this hobby.

Nag? My wife thinks I'm too obsessed with models, paint and I  have too many kits. BTW - I only have probably 30 in my stash. Oh yeah, she complains I spend too much on model kits. Go figure.

Here's the thing - she doesn't understand that this hobby is my blood sweat and tears going far back since I was 7 years old. A couple years ago, she demanded I get rid of some clutter in the cellar of my old kits stored in boxes. Painfully I did but thankfully I had done so for 90% of the kits were a sad sack of broken parts/pieces (mostly model cars). I did manage to save a couple car kits from my youth but a majority of my aircraft kits were solid.

Great to know you have an equally supportive and understanding wife. I have a friend who's wife is just the opposite and he actually gave up the hobby not to hear her nag.

Filled quickly?  That's a bad thing? 

Now that is sad!  She is very supportive.  She hasn't gone to any shows, but she always makes sure I get at least one kit for the holidays!

I'm lucky to have a wife that supports and encourages my hobby. She travels with me to shows and enjoys spending time looking at the displays. She even suggested for me to take over my son's room when he moved out. There's an antique shop she likes to shop and she told me they were closing down and that I should take a look at the display cases the owner was selling. Thanks to her I just picked up this 4 ft wide by 5 ft tall lighted case for $200! She's one great lady.

It should help her to know that she is not the only wife that "gets it" about modeling.

I don't think she needs any pushing, though, she just chose her vacation days to coincide with meeting a guy on FSM on the way up to her granddaughter's birth, and to stop at the Pittsburgh IPMS show on the way back home from New York. (I still have to PM the New York guy to tell him our plans)
