Talk about a blast from the past!  Those commercials were a riot.  They just don't make 'em like they used to.

I confess I never saw that one.

Whenever someone says "old commercial", I think of the magnificent Indian crying at the roadside littler. They should play that, STILL, every commercial break, every night, every state. It's disgusting to see how some people have no regard for the beauty of Nature or a nice neighborhood.

Wow, I haven't seen the Indian commercial in ages. That was a very good one.

A real shame the actor in that commercial wasn't Native American.

Yeah, he went by 'Iron Eyes' Cody and was 100% Italian-American. He did marry an American Indian woman, adopted two Indian children, and was declared an honorary one later on.

It had to be one of the more effective ads in the history of TV.

I remember that US Army recruiting commercial. Didn't remember the Blackhawk in it, though. I had to Google Blackhawk just to see when they went operational. I didn't realize that the Army was using those in 1982 - I thought they were acquired later than that. But, they were operational in 1979. Seems you're always teaching me something, Stik. Which is a good thing.....

That was one of my favorites for the time... I always loved how the Rangers go in the water first, then the boat goes in after them. But yes, the Blackhawks have been operational for well over 30 years now, coming up on 35 soon. They got their baptism of fire in Grenada in '83. They have proven to be as widespread, versatile, and nearly as long serving as the Huey's they replaced.

My favorite is the TV sign-off we had in the 1960's, at midnight all three TV stations in Miami went off the air and this played:

I taped some tv shows during the 1980s and archived some on DVD recently.

One commercial I happened to record but have not seen yet on-line was a Marine Corps officer commercial showing a young officer and his men with a transport helicopter in the background.

If I ever locate it on-line I will provide a link.
